Exclusive and personalised experiences in south-eastern Sicily Perched atop golden cliffs lapped by the Mediterranean Sea, on a promontory facing the island of Ortigia — the beating heart of Syracuse and a UNESCO World Heritage site — Minareto offers a collection of rooms, suites, and villas with a unique viewpoint that can only be described as spellbinding. Entrepreneurial brothers and locals, have transformed this exclusive resort into the refined sanctuary of peace it is today, in full respect of the Plemmirio Marine Reserve and the surrounding untouched natural beauty. Minareto enjoys dual access to the sea: a fine, sandy beach offering comfort and ease for total relaxation, and a more "wild" rocky shoreline, the gateway to the secrets of the Reserve. Here, snorkeling enthusiasts can dive in to discover hidden coves, underwater treasures, and crystal-clear waters. Days drift by slowly, from a cocktail on the Ortigia Terrace — perhaps continuing to the promenade, where swings suspended over the azure invite you to rediscover a sense of wonder — to moments of absolute serenity in the panoramic Jacuzzi area, where sunbeds provide the perfect stage to watch the sunset warm the horizon. The Minareto experience continues with a journey through flavours: from the authentic Sicilian soul of the Plemmirio Terrace to the seafood specialities of Area M, the exclusive restaurant located directly in Ortigia. This venue represents Minareto’s indissoluble link to the history and charm of the island, easily reached also via the resort’s evocative water taxi service. Minareto is thus the ultimate “getaway from the crowds,” without sacrificing the cultural richness of Ortigia, which is also less than 10 minutes away by boat. The exclusivity lies in this perfect balance: being close enough to admire and experience Ortigia, yet protected enough to retreat into complete relaxation. NEARBY: Plemmirio Marine Reserve; Ortigia Island; Siracusa; Mount Etna; Taormina; Noto; Marzamemi GETTING THERE: Catania–Fontanarossa Airport A NOTE FROM THE EXPERT: Minareto’s Signature Experiences are so much fun and unique. The Candlelight Dinner is especially magical, whereby the cliffside is transformed into a magical scene. And the cooking class is so much more than a lesson: it’s an immersive journey into Sicily’s culinary world with the market tour before and the cooking lesson after. THE ROOMS THAT GUESTS PREFER: Those who have tested Minareto recommend choosing rooms from the Deluxe category onwards to fully experience everything Minareto has to offer. A particular recommendation is to try the Panoramic Suites overlooking the sea and the Villas., In particular, the Panoramic Presidential Suite: this is the only suite with private access to the sea in the Plemmirio nature reserve. The suite is very spacious and has a private solarium where you can enjoy moments of true relaxation in complete privacy. As Villas the Villa Moneta di Mare is the most loved. Thanks to its generous and light-filled living spaces, it offers the ultimate sense of freedom and luxury. Guests particularly love its fully equipped kitchen, perfect for bespoke dining experiences, and the private pool overlooking the sea, where the azure of the water blends seamlessly with the horizon.

"A resort type hotel in form of brick bungalow in Europe. It comes with a private pier where you could board on a comfortable boat going to Ortigia (the old town) in half an hour. The landscape there looks so gorgeous that anyone who lives in this hotel should miss it. It also has a private beach which can be accessed through a private tunnel which is quite interesting. Overall, a very beautiful resort overlooking the ortigia with very friendly services and 5-star facilities. "
