I booked this hotel based on a flood of positive reviews, mainly because it's closest to Caoqiao Subway Station, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.
Let's start with the pros: I arrived around 6 or 7 AM, and they allowed me to check in since there was an available room, which was a nice gesture.
Actually, the hotel is located in the commercial buildings on the outer edge of a residential complex, and looking out the window, you see directly into the complex. It's split into two halves, with a Super 8 on the other side.
There's no elevator, and even the second floor feels quite high to walk up. However, the young man at the front desk did help carry my suitcase upstairs, though not all the way to the room door.
Not only was the lobby under renovation, but our floor was too. There was slippery dust-proof paper haphazardly laid out on the floor, and I nearly tripped several times.
Upon entering the room, there was a strong smell, suggesting I was helping to 'absorb the toxic fumes' from the renovation materials. The hotel probably knows about the smell, as the windows were open by default.
I booked a family room for two people, but the space was very small, with no wardrobe. I honestly don't know how a family of three would fit.
There were no tea bags or coffee. All the cups were disposable paper cups, and only small bottles of mineral water were provided.
The strangest thing was the bathroom design: the shower was *outside* the toilet. After showering, if you needed to use the toilet, you'd have to wade through water. Was this designed by someone with their feet?
I really regret not canceling immediately. My family didn't want the hassle of changing hotels, so we stayed for three days. The third day was quite annoying: we returned to the room from outside, and it hadn't been cleaned. The sheets and bath towels weren't changed, but slippers and face towels were replenished. When I asked the front desk, they said the cleaning lady had started but then left to do something else and simply forgot. 😅
The so-called 'smart features' are just for show, and the cost is likely passed on to guests. What's the point of these fancy things if the basics aren't handled well? The voice control couldn't turn the TV or reading light on or off, which was another bug.
The staff seemed to be young people who were quite distracted and provided no real service. When storing luggage, you had to push it into a small room yourself, with no record or anything – just very casual management.
This price truly only benefits from the location; it's worth at most 300, not 400+.
