The hotel was not so welcoming to me as a non chinese speaker. The receptiondesk and restaurant did not even greet me and only spoke to my chinese friend. The restaurant food was not so fresh and the sausage was undercooked. Granted, they replaced this with two new ones. It is not as good as other Ritz Hotels i have stayed at in the past. Tianjin is much better. I would like to see this hotel upgraded to be in line with other excellent Ritz hotels across China.

I'd heard so much about the Ritz-Carlton, and this time, choosing it over Hilton, the Guomao Ritz certainly didn't disappoint.
The hotel is right next to SKP and the JW Marriott, making its location super convenient. It only takes a few minutes to get a taxi or walk to the nearby Dawanglu subway station on Line 1.
The service was excellent. Checking into my Executive King Room was quick, and bellhops and staff helped carry my luggage to the room. The room was quite clean, save for a small stain at the bottom of the bathtub, which is understandable given the hotel's age.
I absolutely loved the old-money aesthetic and the overall decor. A special shout-out to Sarena for kindly gifting me a small lion after our chat during check-in.
The executive lounge didn't have a huge variety of food, but the highlight was having five meal services a day, and during the off-season, it was quiet and had a great ambiance. Breakfast was also decent; I'm not particularly picky about food, so I was satisfied.
Another nice touch was the turndown service, which coincided with the laundry being delivered back to the room, though I didn't end up using it much.
I'd definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance.
