This was by far the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. We booked a normal room for 4 nights. On arrival, we were told none were available for the first night and that we would have to stay in a suite. We agreed, and we even agreed to pay the higher suite rate for that first night only on the understanding that the following day we would move into the normal room at the normal agreed rate. After the first night, they completely went back on their word, told us the normal room was “no longer available,” and demanded we continue paying suite prices for the rest of the stay – or leave the hotel. This was disgraceful. It was not our fault they had overbooked or mismanaged their rooms. They should have honoured the original agreement and kept the price we booked. To change the deal after check-in is not only unprofessional but feels like a scam, trapping guests once they’ve already checked in. The suite itself was terrible: the noise at night was unbearable, with loud sounds making it impossible to sleep. The water from the taps and shower came out yellow, which was unacceptable and unhygienic. Every single morning, reception disturbed us by calling repeatedly and waking us up. If we didn’t answer, staff would come and bang on the door until we opened – a complete invasion of privacy. What should have been a simple, affordable 4-night stay turned into stress, noise, and dishonesty. Breaking agreements with paying guests shows a complete lack of integrity. I strongly advise avoiding NY Suites in Beirut – no guest deserves to be treated this way.
