Hilton Garden Inn Cancun Airport

Honestly, this is by far the worst hotel of its class I've ever seen, both domestically and internationally, and it's a Hilton! The elevator is pathetically small; with one luggage cart and one person, there's no room for anyone else. There's no complimentary drinking water in the room, just an empty bottle! The water dispenser is in the shared hallway, and you have to queue to get water. Am I staying in a hostel, my goodness?! There's no kettle in the room, seriously, first time I've ever seen that. I wanted some hot water, called room service to bring it, and was told to go to the restaurant on the first floor, and I couldn't borrow it, I had to boil it there and bring it back. For the luggage cart, after I used it, I had to return it to the front desk myself. I've never seen a hotel with such terrible service! Absolutely unbelievable!

To avoid the common Cancun scams, I booked a hotel right by the airport, within walking distance. Sure enough, no one answered the phone, so I just walked over with my suitcase, which only took about fifteen minutes. Hotel environment: Just like any other chain hotel. Service: Free printing was a nice touch. Airport distance: Within walking distance, which helped avoid all the bothersome touts and scammers that have unfortunately given Cancun a bad name. Even inside the airport, people were still aggressively asking which terminal you were going to. Environment: Average, suitable for a short, temporary stay. The bedding was clean. There's a bar on the first floor, which was lively with many people watching games. Overall, it was good. Recommended.
