Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden Reviews

The hotel is modern, dreamy and exceptionally clean. I am extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness and Kempinski, as always, did not disappoint at all. Everything felt immaculate and very well maintained. The service at the front desk and concierge was impeccable, very professional, warm and genuinely friendly. Room service and overall service throughout the hotel were excellent as well. The hotel is very couple- and family-friendly, and one thing I truly appreciated was how quiet and uncrowded it felt. Even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, we barely ran into other guests. The layout and structure of the hotel are very well thought out, creating a calm, spa-like atmosphere where nothing ever feels busy or overwhelming. The spa was solid and offered all the basic, well-functioning amenities one would expect. I’ve stayed at spa hotels with more impressive facilities, but this one still delivers a good overall experience. The sauna area is well done, with different sauna variations available. The outside pool-area could be heated a tad more. Unfortunately, all massages and facials were fully booked and we were unable to get any appointments upon arrival, which was quite disappointing. The location is beautiful, but Berchtesgaden itself doesn’t offer much to do. If you want to eat outside the hotel, you’ll need to drive about 10 minutes downhill to the village/town where you’ll find good local restaurants. Food in the hotel was nothing special and significantly overpriced - although that is somewhat expected at a luxury hotel. The Johann Grill restaurant in the evening was especially disappointing: not tasty and far too expensive for the quality offered! Concierge parking costs €10 for outdoor downhill parking or €20 for the parking garage. The €10 option is more than sufficient as they still bring your car to you. The €20 garage option feels unnecessary. Breakfast itself was good, with a solid selection and quality. However, the service at breakfast was disappointing. We sat for around 20 minutes trying to make eye contact and the staff did not acknowledge us at all. After reaching out to the manager twice, she did try her best to improve the situation, which we appreciated. Overall, a very good spa hotel for couples and families, peaceful and well-designed, but with limited activities in the surrounding area. Three nights are more than sufficient. Despite a few service and food-related shortcomings, the hotel remains a relaxing and elegant place to stay.

The location is superb, with a view of Hitler's Eagle's Nest villa above, and Mount Watzmann, Germany's second highest peak, also within sight. The popular swing facing the Alps is fantastic.

The environment is very good. You can see various attractions in Berchtesgaden from a distance. The mountain behind is the Eagle's Nest. The breakfast is also very rich, with buffet and a la carte, and the view is excellent. Even the hotel has started to use recycled slippers, saying that it is environmentally friendly and cost-saving, but overall it is good. Driving in the middle of the mountain is more flexible. If you don't drive, many taxis know this hotel. You can also ask the front desk to help call a taxi when you check out.

We were traveling by car from Germany to Austria, and we had always wanted to visit the Eagle's Nest, Lake Königssee and Jena Peak. So we stayed at Kempinski for two nights and celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. The hotel environment was super good, the rooms were large and comfortable, and it was convenient to drive to various attractions halfway up the mountain. Especially the restaurant, we booked a candlelight dinner in advance, and the hotel also helped to customize tiramisu cake. It was an unforgettable journey!

The room facilities give people a heavy feeling, and the door needs to be pushed hard to open. The coffee pot is also cramped. We booked a balcony room, and the pillows in the room were too soft and uncomfortable to sleep. The surrounding environment is first-class and invincible, and I took many beautiful photos. The breakfast is rich, and the salmon ordered for dinner is also delicious! Remember to wear formal clothes for dinner

The environment is really great, just on the top of a small hill, surrounded by rolling snow-capped mountains, green meadows, and a few small villages. The Internet celebrity swimming pool and Internet celebrity swing occupy the two best viewing points, and the breakfast window is simply a masterpiece. It is a 20-minute drive from King Lake and you can take a half-day tour. The room is large and the restaurant is expensive, but it doesn't matter. Some hotels in Switzerland may have this environment, but there should be no other in Germany.

The view is amazing, the environment is great, the room is OK, but you can see the traces of several years of use. The only shortcoming is that the gym is somewhat inconsistent with other aspects of the hotel.

The room is very comfortable and spacious, and comes with two chocolates, which is really nice. The toiletries are very good, and the facilities are also great. The hotel decoration and swimming pool are invincible, and the breakfast variety is too rich, and many of them taste very good. The best thing is the surrounding environment and service attitude, which are all very good. There is nothing wrong with it except that it is expensive.
