First off, if you're thinking of going to Bergen, DO IT! The city is gorgeous and the Fjord tours that depart are also amazing. Second, the Moxy is a fine choice. It is affordable and appears to be new (so it's not run down). The brand is definitely trying hard to be fun, but overall it succeeds well enough for me. The rooms are a bit small, but sufficient. The hotel is a bit far from the main area, but you can take a nearby tram (Florida stop I believe) or just walk. We walked and I want to say it was a 20 -30 minute stroll. Doable. Similarly, you can take the train/tram from the airport to the hotel. There are a few restaurants very close to the hotel, but they were just okay. However, the hotel's snacks were themselves surprisingly good.

The very sweet lady (Ms. Marha?) on the reception upgraded our room as well as gave awesome recommendations for nearby bars and clubs!
The hotel itself was clean, and the breakfast spread was out of this world!

The hotel is very close to the train station and a short walk to Bryggen. The location is very good. We stayed for two nights. On the second night, some of the facilities in the room had a power outage. We went to the front desk and asked if we could find someone to check it out during the day. We had to take a shower in the dark, which was very helpless.

I chose Scandic because I have had good experiences in the past. However, this stay has been quite horrible. After a long journey to the North Cape and back again, it was important for me to get a good night's sleep before the journey home to Denmark. Already when I/we checked in, many young people arrived with full plastic bags with clinking bottles and large speakers in tow. I wondered, but thought maybe they should go ahead and have a party. I was completely wrong there. The party was held at the Scandic hotel from early evening to early morning. There was running in the corridors, shouting and screaming, banging on pipes, doors slamming continuously, and there was partying and noise that only really drunk people can make. I and others contacted reception who unfortunately could not deal with them. I also think that one or two receptionists cannot handle 20 maybe 25 very drunk young people. In the morning told the young female receptionist that when they complained about a room, the party just moved to a new room. She was very kind and apologized many times. Friendly and sweet service. Immediately, I think that the police should have been called if the party didn't stop. Me and my 2 fellow travelers were refunded DKK 400 for our rooms... But honestly, I think it would have been appropriate to give us the full amount back. Never before have I had such an experience in a hotel.

This is the first time I write a review while still being a guest at the hotel, lets start with the good things. The hotel has an excellent location, nice and newly renovated rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was fine and had good variety as well. However, the upsetting part is that the bad things exceed the good ones. The hotel has a very loud bar/club on the ground floor and plays loud music even on weekdays until late at night, the loud music can be heard in the room. The bed isn’t comfortable, the one I had was used a lot probably and had an inside curve in the middle. The room service menu says that it’s available until 11 pm. However, if you try calling them after 10 pm nobody answers as the kitchen closes at 10 pm but its not written anywhere. They also charge for getting you tap water!! The reception desk, although they say its a 24hours desk, they wouldn’t pick up the phone if you call them after 10 pm. Once I asked for a fork at 10:15 pm the receptionist had to check if room service team would accept as the kitchen had already closed. And had to call the reception twice to get hold of them. The parking garage is operated by a third party, its very small and has probably spaces for 20-25 cars. So most probably it always full, in my case, the hotel staff asked me to go park my car in another public parking garage and walk back to the hotel. The housekeeping team doesn’t clean the room properly, I had hair in the bathroom and the shower drainage is blocked. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, this night is my last and I keep getting disappointed every night. I think the hotel has to offer better services and quality. You even have to greet the receptionist as they would answer by hello rather than “good evening” or “how can we help?” But that’s not important anyways. For the price I paid, I expected much better services from this hotel. I would definitely come back to Bergen, but never to this hotel, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Its not a 5 star hotel according to the global standards. I wouldn’t even give it 3 stars.

I recently enjoyed a 3-night stay at Hotel No.13 in Bergen. While my room lacked windows, it was comfortable and cleaned daily, making it a pleasant place to return to after a day of travel. The absence of a window didn't bother me much, as I spent most of my time exploring the city. The check-in and check-out staff were notably friendly and helpful, which added to the overall positive experience. The daily breakfast included in my rate was basic.
What truly stands out is the hotel's convenient location which is near Byparken Station and walkable distance to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bryggen one of the most popular tourist attractions in Norway. It is a historic wharf with colorful wooden houses dating back to the 14th century.

The hotel is located a stones throw from Bergen railway station, and both the airport bus and city light-rail stop nearby.

The buffet breakfast is great with salmon, cheese, bread, fruit and hot dishes as well. Hotel is quite generous in food provision. Besides, the location is perfect if you take tram no. 1 from airport coz the tram station is just 3 minutes away. We walk to the city center and all the attractions on foot... It's around 15 min walk only and along the way, you can see the lake and shops around. Not a boring walk definitely. Room is not big though to fit 3 of us coz there is a bed in the corridor. However the toilet is spacious when compared to other hotels we visited during the trip. Highly recommend.

We arrived late evening and had to wait in the lobby for a good 40 minutes because the key system did not work. I felt bad for the receptionist that became so stressed he was swearing and saying sorry to us multiple times. He offered my man a bottle of water as it was included in the membership but we would have appreciated Mabe a glass of water for me as vell. After getting another employe to help out they got us to the room. Both very helpful and stressed. These things can happen we understand. The room had a view over the harbor and was clearly at the old part of the hotel not like the pictures of the hotel. Very high ceilings, but very dark. Not a lot of lighting in the room. The glasses in the room was dirty with lipstick stains so we had to take another trip down to the front desk. The bed was inviting even tho it was two single beds and not a double witch we expectedly have booked. Plus for robes and slippers. The bathroom was also old and it was very hard to find a livable temperature in the shower. Eigther super warm or freezing. Wee needed to sleep with the window open because of the room was quite warm and not well conditioned. The breakfast was ok, not really what I expected for a clarion hotel but I found options to my likings. The breakfast staff was nice. The best thing about the hotel was the location but all in all we will be choosing one of the other hotels in the city center the next time.

Super friendly pre-coming staff and check in at 13:00. nearly family atmosphere. The beds are OK and the rooms are simple and not too warm. The hotel is not even 2 minutes from arrival. With the tram you get every 10 minutes for just 3.90 euros per journey to the city centre. Please return immediately. Mountain is great!

Excellent
GGuest UserStayed when: August 2022 - 5 nights, party of 4 (booked a corner suite which comprised 2 rooms with a common entrance) Location: Excellent; key areas/attractions were walking distance (10 minute walk from train station) Rooms: The first room was large whereas the 2nd room was quite small. Not sure if the bed in the 2nd room would qualify as a double bed. The rooms are nicely done up. Breakfast: Good breakfast. However hot beverages such as cappuccino etc not part of the breakfast package. Have to be paid for separately. Not an issue but found it strange/petty for a hotel like this. Gym: Small but functional. Gives the impression that not much thought has gone into it. Two issues - first was lack of ventilation and second was no drinking water available Service: While the staff was polite and helpful, we faced some service issues. The lock on the main door to the corner suite (leading up to the 2 rooms) was not working. Despite requesting the reception staff several times to have it fixed, the problem was not solved. In the end, we gave up and just kept the doors to the two rooms locked (which somewhat defeated the objective of getting a corner suite). Also, were surprised to see the rooms hadn’t been cleaned one day. Found out the rooms are not serviced daily unless one puts up the room service sign on the door. We should have been informed of this at the time of check-in. Other: We had the windows open for ventilation during the night. As a result, our sleep was disturbed all the nights because of noise from outside (saw lots of college students all over Bergen who would be partying late into the night / early morning). Overall: Nice, charming hotel. While we had no major complaints, unlikely we will consider this hotel again because of the above service/small issues.
BBikThe location is average, but the breakfast is excellent for 10 minutes. There are a variety of salmon, freshly baked bread, and even a dessert (sweet). A rare mushroom to eat, different hot drinks are available! Praise Light dinner can, because there is no need to pay extra, don't have great expectations, it is absolutely acceptable! In summary, the price is 10 points high.
GGuest UserWas greeted by a very nice receptionist when I checked in. He saw that I was a member of their chain and offered me the benefits it provides. Then gave the information I needed and explained the way to the elevator. All with kindness and a big smile. It gave a very good start to a good stay. Asked at check in for room with view and high up. I got it in room 616 which had a balcony. I think most rooms do not have a balcony or that view. So a tip is to ask and if they are available, you will get enough. The room was clean. And that's the most important thing for me. Not very big and the bathroom was even smaller. But it is more than enough for two people visiting this city. Even though the room is clean, it appears to be somewhat worn over time. You can see it on the scraped panel stove, scraper and other things on the walls, the bedding has some smaller holes and is worn (but comfortable to sleep in). When there are better times for the hotel industry, it would not cost much to raise the standard a little. Breakfast has everything you need, but does not appear very exciting. You can see there are some measures taken that raise it from basic, and there is a lot of staff at work. But it's a long way up to the city's best breakfast and there is constantly empty for some products during the breakfast. Then it is important to know that the Comfort hotels at Nordic Choice Hotels are the most affordable. I have often stayed in Quality hotels in the past and the standard is one notch or two up. So for what you pay here for the rooms with breakfast it is very good value! And the very best value here is those who work here. Whether it is night guards, cleaners or others. There are always positive answers if you want something. And accompanying smile. Otherwise there is a bar here if you wish. And from Bybanen it may be around 10-15 minutes to walk. So it is centrally located in Bergen. Can definitely recommend this hotel for the price against the standard one gets.
AAlexanderYAll great. Modern design, good breakfast, great views. Little things: The shower has no curtain, so the toilet gets flooded after the shower. And there is no shelf for soap or shampoo in the shower - should put it all on the floor.
GGuest UserWe stayed one night. Staff are all very helpful. The rooms comfortable and breakfast was all we needed. A good quiet atmosphere and well situated but not at the correct harbour for our cruise, but good for wandering around and just near the funicular railway for excellent views of this area. Taxi fares like everything here in Norway 2-3 times typical UK price.
Nnicky_bThe location right next to the harbour in Bryggen is great. However I was disappointed with the service. On one day, our room didn't get serviced. No reason why. We had to go to reception to get coffees, soap etc. For a large chain, fairly expensive hotel, I would expect servicing of rooms to happen daily. I didn't find reception staff to be particularly friendly either. The hotel is large, corporate and a bit soulless. I prefer the smaller chain hotels that have a family feel to them. I probably wouldn't book here again.
GGuest UserThings are different! We found a two bed room is really more like a room with a king bed. Well, OK, but not what we expected. The room was quite small, but worked pretty well. There is a metal frame that serves as a place to hang clothing, several shelves so you can put clothing out, but no drawer storage. There was a TV, you could make coffee/tea in the room (if you wanted). Biggest surprise: the bathroom was fully suitable for an RV. I could touch wall to wall with my outstretched arms. The shower was the size of half a phone booth. The sink was about 10X14 inches. Tiny, but it worked. The room was overlooking the Bergen Visitor Info Center and Fish Market. One night there were a lot of revelers. Otherwise it was quiet. Breakfast was a buffet, with some hot items, and the usual cold cuts, cheese, breads. Some fruit. The coffee machines are fine when they work, but it seems that guests are pretty hard on them and they were not always available. We were joining a cruise, but at the last minute learned we had to delay our arrival several hours due to harbor congestion. We spent the extra time, with our luggage and kindles in the hotel's small lobby. The staff made us welcome, and assisted us with a taxi when we were finally able to depart.
AAnonymous UserVery central hotel with amazing friendly staff.
Breakfast was excellent along with the dinner we had there one night. 15% off restaurant meals for guests was a nice touch.
Beds were comfy but as in previous reviews the room could do with more lights as the only lights in the bed section of the room were 2 bedside lights.
We would return in a heartbeat though.
HHANXIAOI am very satisfied with this hotel. First of all, the location is very good. Although I use the mobile app to operate the whole process, it is very good after getting used to it. It is clean and tidy. I highly recommend it
TTW2024I like this place where I can cook. I eat a lot and eating in restaurants in Norway is too expensive. Supermarkets are nearby so buying foods is convenient. Room has a dish washer but I don’t know how to use. Near a lake and near train station. Cleanliness is so so. Price is good. Bed is next to the heater and curtains are on the heater. Not sure if it will burn so I put curtains on the wall. Good hot shower. They only provide a hand washing liquid bottle in the bathroom. Bring your own toiletries.
