Hotel & Restaurant Rose

The hotel is located in the city center and is easy to reach. There are public parking spaces nearby and the hotel's own underground car park. The single room was clean but spartanly furnished. The bathroom is small but modern. The cleanliness is very good. Unfortunately, the WiFi is not very stable and often breaks off when you are working. Also not good is the traffic noise that comes into the room from the adjacent main road through the rather old windows. In addition, the hotel was undergoing renovations, so there was construction noise from 7 a.m. onwards. The room price is OK for the service/facilities, but 20.00 euros for breakfast is very high.

The reception at check-in by one of the two owners was very lackluster and I know friendliness differently (after 55 years of travelling around the world). Room 210 (in the hotel annex?), also called the "holiday apar**ent", is large in square metres, but neither the living room nor the "dining room" were usable. In the always dark "living area" there was only one ceiling light with 5 small lights, of which only 2 were on. The cuddly-looking sofa furniture was rock hard, one of the little windows was less than a meter from a wall. Light and view: zero. The kitchenette reminded me of bulky waste, the refrigerator was so noisy that it had to be turned off in order to be able to sleep. The 2 bedrooms were spacious, the beds OK, but the furniture was cheap and wobbly, and in the "large" bedroom the floor was already breaking out of the sliding door wardrobe. I also found the electrical installation amateurish, there was only a light on the left side of the double bed (if you lie on the right, you can't read anything else). As another guest has already commented: "it appeared to be 1970s". We were also missing (at least) a "suitcase boy" where you can put your suitcase, which is actually a normal standard in hotels. The whole apar**ent was covered with the cheapest, sloppy laminate flooring, which I didn't want to walk on barefoot! And the real joke was the bathroom: the toilet was the size of a child's toilet, but the mirror on the double washbasin was mounted so high that only people over 1.75 could see their faces. Behind the mirror was the (only!) indirect lighting for the dark room, which didn't light up the bathroom much better when ON than when OFF. To the right of it was the quite small shower, the lower edge of the shower partition door was dirty/rotten. BUT the shower water came out of the shower head really well! The terry towels were not at all fluffy like in a hotel, maybe they used to be... As there was no door between the toilet and the bathroom, the apar**ent obviously smelled when someone had a BIG mess in the toilet. UNFORTUNATELY, there wasn't a single (!) hook in the entire bathroom where you could hang a towel, bathrobe or something similar. And there was also no small cosmetic mirror. The hairdryer was a heavy professional device, much too big and heavy to dry yourself with. Furthermore, we were not informed in any way, neither when booking nor when checking in, that major renovation work was being carried out in the building. We complained about this the next day when checking out at reception, and the employee just said that she would "pass it on". Conclusion: for the amount of money that was being charged for this "holiday apar**ent", you can certainly find much better in the area. I can't recommend it...
