Hotel Bilbao Plaza

Extremely poor communication, stopped responding to my emails, refused to respond with the dates they had rebooked or refund my money. Really weird experience, stay at the Hesperia.

Great location for the Guggenheim, as well as for shopping and the old town. Limited parking at the hotel, book if you can, although parking nearby too. Staff ppokite and helpful. Cold continental breakfast; good quality, great if that's what you want.

Genuinely shocked that this hotel is only a 2 star, not really sure why, deserves more than that! The hotel is small and basic but was literally perfect for what you need it for! Bed was comfy, pillows were good and the view of the river from the hotel room was great! The staff were all so friendly. I had emailed ahead to ask for a room on a lower floor and my request was made with no problems which I was very grateful for! Perfect location to explore Bilbao and the old town is only 5 minutes away! Would recommend and 100% stay again

This is a very new and modern hostel just next to the City Hall. Easy access to both the Old Town and the Guggenheim, etc. Breakfast was reasonably priced and offered plenty of food options. The room had everything except for an electric kettle. We understand fixing tea isn't a suggested action since there's a cafe downstairs, but we would have appreciated preparing hot drinks in the still cold spring weather. Overall it was a great stay.

Five of us stayed here in three rooms for a couple of nights at the end of waking a stage of the Camino del Norte. As several have said, the location is good close to a bridge to cross the river, a short walk from Casco Viejo, and a little downriver from the Guggenheim. So clearly a ton of eating and shopping options steps away. Also on the “right side of town for those coming down the hill on the Camino. Rooms clean and quiet - though with a very odd single pillow the full width of the bed. (Ask and they’ll bring you extra normal pillows.) Decent breakfast. All in all, good value for a good location. Recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights in June. Originally booked a regular room, but upgraded to a room with a view, which put the price in line with a lot of other budget range hotels. The location was perfect - 10/15 min walk to both Casco Viejo and Guggenheim. The view of the city was nice. If I was trying to figure out what made it 2 stars, I would probably say the bedding could have been softer. Everything was adequate. We did not do breakfast at the hotel - instead walked for 10 min to Bertiz bakery each day. The staff was inconsistent - some were friendly, but not all. One of the receptionists kept asking our room number every time we passed by. On our return trip I actually got a better deal at Sercotel Ayala, not far from this hotel, and the room was a bit more upscale, but no view. The Plaza is a fine hotel in a good location.

Location was perfect for us - on the river right next to the Old Town. Everything was walkable for us. Room was more spacious than expected and was clean and comfortable. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast at under 10€ was a bargain.
