Sonesta Select Birmingham Colonnade

I am very upset abt this hotel making unauthorized charges to my credit card. The front desk said i would be charged $20 deposit. And i signed ONLY for a $20 deposit. I check my credit card two days later they have charged an amount in $96.80 twice and another charge of $20. I call the hotel when i leave bc my daughter had an early volleyball tournament to make sure they close out my rooms. The front desk said they would and she would have her manager look into the additional charges. I check today and it’s 2 new charges that have posted of $$116.80 and two pending charges of still $96.80. I paid for my hotel stay with my debit card of $335. There is no way in hell this hotel should’ve been charging my card like this. Very disgusted with this whole experience. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! And i’ve disputed ALL unauthorized charges!!! Just crooks!!!!!!

Clean but not very well appointed. One of the less impressive complimentary breakfasts I've seen. Wouldn't recommend for business or long stays, but it was fine for a couple nights for a family not spending much time in the room.

I stayed at a couple of different rooms around the Christmas holiday this year. The staff was excellent each time, everyone was friendly and took care of anything I brought to their attention. There are some wonderful people working there and they made my stay a treat. The property itself needs some work, some lights in the rooms don't work, some outlets don't work, one room was out of shampoo and conditioner. I'm sure they would have handled these issues if I had brought them up, I just didn't have the time during my stay. You absolutely cannot beat the people there, though.

My stay has been nothing but outstanding.The staff has been friendly and helpful in every way.

This hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff was very professional and accomodating. Breakfast was served hot and the area was neat and clean. There was a very pleasant and clean smell as soon as we entered the building. We were very pleased and definitely will return in the future.

Substandard! Especially for the specific area of Hoover/Birmingham it is in. I walked into the lobby and was immediately overwhelmed by sweet smelling deodorizer, usually a sign odors are being masked. For this reason I asked to see a room and was told its policy is NOT to let customers see the room first? I’m like what? Also that I could view it only after officially checking in and paying $25? Ok long story short the employee finally let me view it. It smelled terrible and she said that was their BEST room. No way I was going to sleep in that bed all night with those odors (remember all the deodorizer I smelled in the lobby?) I was told I had to call ******* which I did immediately and they called the clerk quickly, I was willing to part ways with the first night payment but requested to be refunded the other two nights. The clerk told ******* she couldn’t reach management so I had to wait on a follow response. We had to crash at a friends the first night then moved on to a reputable hotel the other two nights. Listen you get what you pay for. And I lost $246, even thought THEY aren’t providing a truly clean hotel. Bad odors come from SOMETHING unclean. After 3 days ******* CS FINALLY heard from whomever operates the place and they declined to refund me anything. I expressed all this to say to everyone: DO NOT STAY AT AT THIS HOTEL! I do not recommend this chain period. Someone must be paying them for reviews!

I don't know why this hotel is listed with such high ratings. The pool was not heated, therefore not functional in December. There was no breakfast. The staff, though friendly and polite, couldn't even figure out how to take payment for the room. I will most likely not be using this chain of hotels again.

The hotel is in desperate need of repair. Advertise breakfast and they do NOT. Lights in hallway broken, room musty smelling. Only good is the friendly receptionists. THIS HOTEL Was rated online 8.0!! I will not believe the ratings given anymore!!

I gave an excellent because the staff went out of their way for me when I had lost my phone trying to help me find it. Super gracious and friendly... and most kind! The room was clean and adequate. Halls were quiet. Breakfast was a bagel and toast...that's it. Looked like the pool was nice but we didn't swim. Safe neighborhood and convenient to 280.
