We wanted to stay in Irondale rather than Birmingham and although this property didn't have great or CURRENT reviews,the description said that it was renovated in 2024 and no other property had a better review. It was indeed updated in some areas and our room was very nicely appointed with new upholstery and modern furniture but it was not clean. There was a layer of dust (construction?) on EVERYTHING and long, dark hairs on the bathroom floor. The window glass was filthy. The freezer was so in need of defrosting that the door would not shut and we were unable to refreeze our flat ice packs. I would guess that no one has stayed in the room since the renovation and the room had not received a post-construction cleaning. The elevator was very dirty,noisy, and a bit scary to ride to the 4th floor. The regular clientele is obviously traveling construction workers. Staff was very friendly but unprofessional.

Staff friendly and helpful at making local dining recommendations. Breakfast was hot and fresh. We were only there for one night, but will definitely stay again if we come back through.

We walked into our room with our toddler. Sat our stuff down. Looked in the fridge there were roaches. Looked at the wall roaches were crawling up the wall.
Immediately left our room amd left, the person at the front desk apologized and understood whybwe cant stay. She said unfortunately management knows the roach problem and it continues. yuck.

Everything was truly prepared, I arrived around 9pm the place was quite, clean and secured. The lady at front desk was professional organization friendly, helpful and all that.

Hotel is old and part of the first floor by guest elevators was missing the walls and ceiling. No signage to excuse construction. Hotel room had dirty curtains, very dusty and clear physical damage to AC unit. Bathroom floor appeared to have water stains on floor under sink, in tub/shower floor, the shower faucet was covered in green residue from water build up, drain had visible hair stuck in it. The toilet ran constantly all night and made a shrill whistling noise like that of a tea kettle. Reported this to front desk with the response of “sorry” and nothing else. No ice machine on my floor. The ground (landscaping, exterior, etc.) have very clearly not been maintained for years. Awful experience and did not even want to shower or remove shoes in this facility.
