This hotel should NOT be tradeing. This is a dump and unsafe place to stay. I would not recommend this place for adults never mind children to stay here. When we stayed we left early. The kitchen was closed/shut down, the bare was selling not for resale cans of beer because they had no draft, no staff wore uniforms plus our room was a joke.

I stayed for a week of the 16th August and was served eggs and beans from the kitchen and my children and myself had diarrhea and sickness they told me the kitchen was closed as doing it up but I've later heard they was condemned by health and hygiene and if they was then me any my kids shouldn't of been served food from the kitchen. I also stayed on the 15th untill 18th as they over charged me first time round so I but to a weekend stay for my daughter birthday which was a absolute disgrace my daughter got bites from fleas and I had to try get them from her hair which caused her leg to get infected and I had stay at blackpool walk in for 4 hours to get given steroid cream due to severity of it and also she has asthma and the smell of mould was disgusting the celings and walls were covered in black mould leaks and also mushrooms growing from the carpet my son woke up to his bed being a swimming pool also I am absolutely disgusted that they can be open and charge people to stay in dangerous conditions. The hotel is servery run down as I have been coming to this hotel for over 6 years and the last 2 years have dramatically gone down hill and feel violated me and my family have expierences this. I am seeking legal advise and reported to all relevant services.

Bitter sweet review... We had a great half term week with the kids in Blackpool... Plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained with beautiful weather. The hotel... You pay for what you get! If you want a cheap hotel you're going to get just that. Very run down, smelly, worn and in need of a massive face lift HOWEVER the bed sheets were clean!! That's what matters right? A few hiccups... 1 towel between 4 of us, room wasn't cleaned or hoovered and we ran out of toilet roll several times, these issues were resolved when speaking to staff who were very friendly and accommodating but seemed to clock off at 2pm. Ending on a positive... Location is great! Right next to pleasure beach and tram stop!!

Upset , thought it was very basic but ok when I was there, since returning my dog has flea's, which she has never had before and is a housedog, so could not have caught from anywhere else, very disappointed 😞

Hotel is in extreme disrepair and very very dirty, was on the top floor but wasn’t told lift was out of order till after we paid and it is very visible I’m disabled, after making it up the 3 flights of steep stairs we got to our room which was filthy, stained, damp & cold, bathroom window was hanging out, inadequate bedding, missing light fittings, we checked out at 8am but there was nobody in reception so left key in room and tried ringing 8 times all through the morning to let them know and complain but nobody answered, worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel and only stayed as it was late and had no other choice, please please avoid at all costs, it’s really not worth the risk!!!!!

Would of loved the lift working as on 2nd floor music stopped at 1130 which was adequate but some drunks wanted him to carry on but our room was above and I heard it from the night before kids running up and down the three flights of stairs and banging but I think was sorted but the place is near to tram stop and pleasure beach good value for money Elvis was great with our granddaughter would come back again

Avoid if at all possible - hotel looks like it houses the local homeless when they have spare rooms. Rooms had broken furniture, plug in heaters which didn’t work, carpets were disgusting, mouldy bathrooms and just an all round gruesome experience. Rooms felt wet when we entered, walls were damp and the entire place smelt awful. We checked in as a group and handed the keys back after assessing the rooms. We could not stay here with children, the other guests did not look child friendly, nor was the atmosphere. This hotel is more like a hostel. Carpark convenient however we had an audience as we locked the cars and approached the hotel, left us feeling very uneasy. We were quoted £179 to stay here for 2 nights - absolutely shocking! Very close to Pleasure beach but if you want a safe clean stay this hotel is NOT for you! I would not recommend for anything other than the location and you’d probably be better off sleeping in the car.

Very Good

This hotel is good for the tram stop just over the road. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was clean and tidy. Now the not so good. We didn’t see how disabled guests could use this hotel at all although that may be just we didn’t find ramps or anything. The hotel could definitely do with a working lift we were on the second floor and being not too fit we’re knackered by the time we got to our room. I personally believe breakfast was over priced at £5 each for toast with either jam marmalade or butter, cereal, croissants and some other pastries, some fruit or yogurt. Tea and coffee facilities in the room we asked about coffee which we were given but was told they don’t usually have coffee in the rooms. Also the coffee machine in the restaurant was £2 per cup.lastly our toilet seat was loose. We didn’t think to mention this tho

OK we booked a cheap room as just needed to stay one night and literally somewhere to sleep. Greeted by a gentleman who was wandering round who went to find someone to book us in. Tried to charge us for the free car park. I refused ! Room on 3rd floor. On way up there alarm Bells started ringing I'm in no way a snob but buckets catching water. Carpet taped down. Corridors blocked off with chairs. By the time I had pushed my asthmatic hubby up the last few stairs we embarked down the dreary narrow corridor and saw more buckets and a sign saying fire exit can't be used. Slightly worrying !! Got in the room OK bed looked clean but undentifiable stains on the carpets . Something thrown over the doors and the kettle well look at the pics ! Wasn't expecting much but the damp and mould and dirt would have finished my hubby off. Back down stairs to say thanks but no thanks stink of cigarette smoke hit us in the entrance from owner stood at front door having a cig. Crap customer service finished us off. Maybe when we saw the sign offering rooms by the day or part day for a tenner we should have been alarmed !!

I'm 45 now but spent many a day in Blackpool as a kid and have been many times on stag/lads weekends away as an adult so I'm well aware of what Blackpool is about and the type of accommodation you can get in Blackpool. We (myself and my wife) wanted to give our 15 year old the authentic Blackpool experience as he'd never been. We picked the Colwyn because of it's price, it's location (right next to the pleasure beach which was a must visit attraction for our son) and because it's dog friendly. First the positives The location is good. 2 minute walk from the pleasure beach, 30 second walk from a tram stop and a 2 minute walk from the glitter ball (which is worth seeing if your ever in Blackpool). There is a car park and it's free for guests The staff where really friendly and helpful The price was cheap. We all slept well and the beds were comfy Now sadly the negatives To say it needs some money spent on it to upgrade is an understatement. Lift wasn't working which was ok for us but I can imagine it's a nightmare for other people. The stairs are rickety and a bit steep and very narrow so quite dangerous. The room our son was given was of a decent size but the wallpaper was peeling off on the ceiling and the walls and there was a strong smell of urine on entering the room. We complained and they moved him to a much nicer room without any issue at all. Like I said earlier the staff were great Our room was ok. Wallpaper was peeling a little bit off the ceiling and I'm not flash but my wardrobe is bigger than the en-suite, but overall it was ok, plenty of room for your stuff and bed linen was clean There was no food available as the kitchen was out of order which in all honesty was a bit of a relief! It's definitely not the worst hotel I've stayed at in Blackpool but I'll tell you honestly it's not great which is a shame because with the right investment it could be a very good hotel.

Sadly, after staying for many years on numerous occasions per year, sometimes as a family with our children and some times on our own as a couple, it's time to find a new hotel. Absolutely gutted to see the hotel go downhill so much. Cleanliness, maintenance, general staff helpfulness and how the hotel is run have all taken a hit. So sad to say. The location is fantastic. The size of the premises has so so much potential to be something fantastic but not only has this hotel lost it's sparkle, so have the staff. Kitchen closed, toilets closed, bar closed very early, no toilet rolls in rooms, on the one night we managed to get a drink in the bar, we were given cans that had been bought perhaps from the local supermarket and we were overcharged for them. Shame because we always make a point of spending money where we stay to show our loyalty and appreciation. Our booking was made approx 6 months in advance. Because we have stayed here many times, we requested to be given our preferred room and also contacted the hotel to confirm our request about 3 times. We were told "we will try". We didn't get the room we requested and there was other guests checked into the room we requested. I don't understand how it was a problem when we gave 6 month notice. We booked and also confirmed over the phone that payment on arrival was preferred. A few days before our arrival I received an email saying the hotel had cancelled our booking because our card details had apparently declined. I called the hotel (again) and asked why not only had our booking been cancelled but the people we had spoken to still tried to take money from our bank. No answers could be given, from any of the staff. The booking was remade and I was told they want to be paid in cash. I found ut strange as we have always paid by card on arrival on every visit. On arrival, an attempt to overcharge us by £50 was made. The room we were given looked run down to say the least. Carpets dirty, bathroom dirty, shower tray had residue, shower itself was stained with limescale build up, left a loo roll with around 10 squares of roll on it for our 3 night stay. The kettle cable was around 10cm long so had to be put onto the carpet to boil as it wouldn't reach any electricity sockets. The TV remote was literally crusted with dirt. I felt very uncomfortable touching it at all. The window handles were broken, there were chunks of wallpaper missing, windows were very dirty and marks on the walls. The nightshift man was the only exception to this stay who helped me out when I asked for teabags and milk. He was only too happy to help me aswell as being a friendly and kind person. If you book this hotel - keep a very close eye on your bank outgoings. Sadly, its not the first time money has come out of our account from this hotel that was not authorised. I thought once was a mistake. Twice was my mistake for staying again. The hotel has been our favourite to stay at in Blackpool for years and years. We are absolu

The colwyn used to be a nice hotel. It would seem since the new owners have took over they have run it into the ground. It’s become very run down.Everything seemed neglected.Everything seemed broken including the ovens as no cooked breakfast available.Only ok things were bathroom was ok and comfy beds and handy for the tram.I’m sure for the price they charge there are better guest houses available.

The best place I’ve ever stayed !!! Lovely owners, great staff amazing location on the seafront !!! Breakfasts cooked by Bobby are truly exceptional especially his bacon sandwich ! Bar staff, Admin and cleaners all extremely friendly and go out of their way to help the needy and homeless, very humbling to see in this day and age !!! Definitely coming back to stay there with the trouble and strife and friends who can’t wait to experience the Colwyn !!! A must for anyone coming to Blackpool
