Château Grattequina Hôtel

Booked this for 1 night so we wouldn’t have too far to travel to Mérignac airport the following morning. It looked handsome on line and the location outside of central Bordeaux fit the bill. The food offering was a bit quirky but we weren’t hung up about the food after 8 days travelling around Aquitaine. Service was attentive, energetic and congenial - Max was only too willing to help. The room was spacious and clean. Best of all was waking up to the bird song and sunrise over the river - stunning view. That is, so long as you look left as down to the right, across the river, is a factory. Nevertheless, a lovely spot on the river. The owner has clearly invested heavily and the chateau is overall a very nice experience.

The Chateau was everything we could have hoped for and more. Gorgeous grounds with so many beautiful spaces to explore, sit and read a book and of course enjoy a wine. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Chateau Grattequina seemed like a five star hotel to us. Complete quality in everything they did - service, friendliness, food, wine, a beautiful room with sitting area and terrace and view of the Garonne River. It was nice to be able to have a meal at any time. The setting is very private and we liked being out of Bordeaux city center. We highly recommend it!

We stayed in room 3 and the view from our balcony was incredible! We ate breakfast and lunch there and everything they served was absolute perfection. The Chateaux and grounds were beautiful and inside was beautifully remodeled but without losing the charm of the home’s history. We really loved it!!! The only thing that could make this lovely property better is if they served dinner every night. if they did, we’d most definitely partake. A great experience 🩷

We enjoyed the wine vending machine and delicious small plates available throughout the day. Gorgeous and spacious room with very nice amenities.

Lovely château with great service and just the right amount of luxury just outside of Bordeaux. The team did an outstanding job of making us feel at home and well cared for. The property and the château are stunning. We look forward to a return visit soon!

We first stayed in 2022 and decided to come back to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday in June of 2023. We requested the Suite Chic and enjoyed a private balcony overlooking the back lawn with a beautiful view of the River Garrone. It was the perfect setting to enjoy a very special bottle of Bordeaux.

Chateau Grattequina is lovely and a nice distance away from the craziness of Bordeaux. We stayed in the largest suite and it was overall quite comfortable, aside from the beds not being the best. The service was great and everyone there was so friendly. My only tip is to skip the breakfast service if you want more than bread and fruit for €22. The eggs were “scrambled” but with uncooked yolks and whites so we didn’t eat them and ended just had coffee, juice and cereal/bread each day. Not a good value but it was convenient. We also had the cheese plate when we were there which was quite good. The living room area downstairs is nice and they have a machine with nice wines to try. We took the boat ride and it was fun seeing Bordeaux from another angle. Aside from a big company event that was there one day, it was very quiet and relaxing. They helped us rent a car when we arrived, had it delivered to the hotel and arranged for us to drop it off at the airport when we left. It was very convenient and great service. From the hotel it’s an easy drive to wineries, the town and anything else you may need.

We'd been in Bordeaux for a number of days and wanted to have a break from the city. This was/is the place to do it. Its expensive, yes, but oh does it deliver on peace and quiet. The terraces are a delight to sit, have a drink, watch the river float by. Swimming pool was a haven too. We'd recommend staying here but consider.......there is food on site but no restaurant which is both good and bad. There is no passing 'trade' so never busy with lunch/dinner crowds, staying peacful but the food they do serve is limited. Its okay getting an Uber/ taxi to the hotel from Bordeaux but going beyond the hotel into the medoc for dinner proved very expensive for us in return taxi fare.
