Arrived at the hotel and was very impressed by the beautiful building and location. At check in we were handed hotel information on a sheet of paper. The receptionist forgot to give us our £10 voucher. Before booking for dinner I checked if there was any flexibility with the menu as I was struggling to find something to eat. I was assured by the manager that they could accommodate menu adaptations. The room was stunning with a huge window and sea view. It was very cold but there was a plug in heater. The room tray was budget not exclusive with no coffee machine, the least I would expect given how much we paid. Further disappointment awaited at the ‘spa’! Underwhelming to say the least! Changing rooms befitting a public swimming pool, tiny shallow pool and a small round jacuzzi. There was a steam room and sauna both not a luxury offer. At dinner, my pork dish was changed from one with king scallops to just the meat and the chef made a delicious sauce. We couldn’t fault the quality of the food. However, when we had to settle the bill ( no tab here pay as you go only!) the manager was intent on charging the same for a meal without scallops refusing to accept I had eaten a cheaper option. I was pretty disgruntled at paying £29 for a piece of belly pork however tasty especially when the cost had never been mentioned. Food at breakfast was delicious but in short supply especially by the time replacement eggs were produced. Overall impression is that despite the luxury price tag and beautiful surroundings it is run on a budget, understaffed and in need of a huge investment as well as better customer service to provide the luxury offer it promised.

booked this hotel for our 46th wedding anniversary after seeing the write ups on the quality of the food and hotel. The hotel write up says “wake up to sea views and a hearty breakfast included on both mornings of your stay, tuck into the continental buffet or order cooked items from the menu, will it be full Cornish or eggs Benedict? Our talented chefs will create a three course dinner for you to enjoy in the intimate oak panelled Dakota restaurant also included in one night of your stay expect delicious dishes where local and seasonal ingredients shine” I must point out that this hotel was taken over in September 2024 and I think most of the information on their website is related to the previous owners the delicious food was not forthcoming we had booked that romantic weekend which included rose petals in the room, chocolate bottle of Bubbly & breakfast on both nights with three course dinner on 1st night The breakfast was most disappointing I've never seen such a bland looking full English in all my life as per the photograph and it was all cold and I ordered it with the eggs poached to be on toast so the yoke would seep into the toast and my wife ordered egg Benedict, both our eggs came up solid! The evening meal which again nothing related to previous write ups on the hotel. The main courses on offer were pasta arrabiata, sirloin steak but that was an additional £10, duck with noodles and hoisin sauce, cheeseburger and fish and chips. The duck and noodles came up with a duck leg on top! Whenever I've had that in any other high class restaurants the duck always comes up shredded in the noodles not dumped on the top. The waitress we had who's now gone off to Bali was outstanding, the maitre-d' for breakfast and in general I must say was very poor. While staying you could NOT run up a TAB! Every time we ordered a beer, wine or anything you have to pay at time of ordering.

As a regular guest at Trenython restaurant I can honestly say that the staff and manager Salim are always friendly, welcoming and professional. Salim in particular is helpful and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We are always accommodated and looked after and nothing is ever too much trouble. Food is always made available even if outside of normal dining times.

Came for sunday lunch, 1st class service by staff, lunch was well worth it. Fresh food and served exactly as we requested. Receptionist, Holly, was so polite and friendly, very professional and informative. Abbie, our waitress, was also polite, friendly, and again very professional. Just before we left, the manager Salim, came over to check all was fine, again very polite and friendly. The entire visit was a pleasure, and will come again soon.
