I’m an Australian and stayed at the Bodhgaya Hotel School for 13 nights in December 2025. I would highly recommend this hotel. It’s run idealistically also as a Hotel School as the name suggests. The staff were really pleasant and accommodating and I enjoyed the quality of the food and the accommodation. Shout outs to Rani, Angali, Raj and Suraj from the restaurant team. Also the kind and friendly service at hotel reception of Prakash and Aditya. If you prefer a location near the 80 foot Buddha and the magnificent Karma Temple, this is a great boutique choice.

Great project and great hotel. Together with a Swiss charity organisation the hotel school gives young people through social entrepreneurship a chance for professional education. We enjoyed our stay, very friendly stuff, very clean and spacious rooms and very good location for trips. We got every help we needed and we could feel the good learning atmosphere. Definitely a perfect place to stay in Bodhgaya.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bodhgaya Hotel School. The hotel managers, staff and students were all very welcoming and made us feel at home right away. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean and the public areas (reception / restaurant) are lovely. Throughout our stay the food was excellent and the students worked very hard to provide very attentive service. Their smiles alone were worth the room cost! This is an excellent concept and it is nice to know that your time and money are being put to very good use in giving the students a "helping hand" early in their careers. Well done everyone at TBHS - brilliant!

The Hotel School is great, first of all, for what it does: It provides professional experience to a group of youngsters in a growth industry, under well structured circumstances. The students whom we met were very kind, hard working and did their best to understand and take care of our needs. Starting with your arrival, the hotel is associated with a good car service from Gaya airport. We continued to use their service for longer trips. (Bodh Gaya is a phenomenal tourist attraction itself--being a global magnet for Buddhist pilgrims and non-Buddhist who are curious to see the place where one of the world's greatest religious began. Bodh Gaya is near a number of other Buddhist sites, including the Indian Archeological Service site of Nalanda University, one of the world's earliest known universities.) The hotel is walking distance to the main temple area, the various streetside markets and even the town's other good restaurants / cafes. Autos are also readily available and, take note: They seemed never to veer from the standard fees: no need for the haggling over price. But there is no pressing reason for you seek food outside as the Bodhgaya Hotel School's cafe is by far the best vegetarian restaurant in town. The meals are fresh made (so they may take some time) but they are truly delicious, healthy and nourishing. They are also fully compatible with the food requirements of the--mainly Hindu and Buddhist--visitors. A little day-to-day variation in the menu would make the experience absolutely perfect. Our room and the attached bathroom was clean; electricity and internet service were reliable in spite of the frequent load shedding situation (thanks to the hotel's excellent generators). This hotel is the ideal, no-frills solution for your needs if you want to visit one of the world's most important religious centers at eminently reasonable prices. The staff itself justifies this choice.

The Bodh Gaya Hotel School offers spacious and well-lit rooms with private bathrooms at a very reasonable cost. The accommodation standards are not luxurious, but they are clean, comfortable, well maintained, and perfectly adequate for travellers looking for a peaceful and safe stay. The hotel boasts an excellent restaurant on site. We sampled the Indian vegetarian offerings, and were very pleased. In fact, after trying some of the other restaurants in town, we came to the conclusion that the vegetarian food on offer at the Hotel School was of superior quality. The range of items available is somewhat limited at present--after all the cooks are students--but the food is prepared with care and warmth, and it did not lead to digestive difficulties. But perhaps the Hotel School's biggest asset is the courteous, professional and friendly attitude of the staff, and the enthusiasm and kindness of the students, eager to learn from the experience of serving guests. The Hotel School is also well located, within walking distance of the Mahabodhi temple, and very close to a number of additional temples, built and maintained by a number of South-east Asian countries. And yet, because the hotel is situated on a quieter road, one is spared the immediate hub-bub and noise of the commercial thoroughfares in town. In short, we highly recommend the Bodh Gaya Hotel School. It is suitable for everyone, but particularly for visitors from abroad looking for a peaceful stay. If we were to visit Bodh Gaya or, for that matter, Gaya every again, we would definitely stay at this hotel.

We had an exceptionally good experience. Warm and friendly staff. Very welcoming and helpful. They would go out of the way to make our stay comfortable. A home away from home. Great food, very obliging front desk. They took care of all our needs.

I love the fact that it’s a school. It’s behind the Big Buddha and an easy tuk tuk ride to Mahabodhi temple. The hotel is very clean. The meals served are varied and delicious. The students are professional and friendly. It’s our second stay and if we come back to Bodhgaya we will stay there again!!
