Great classy hotel. Wide and spacious parking. Great location. I stayed many months in the hotel for work. I liked everything. Disadvantage was that often I was getting a room not suitable for a long-stay customers. I changed my room several times due to it was inconvenient in case you stay months long. Otherwise good place to stay.

Highly unpleasant experience mainly because of a unfriendly, disrespectful and condescending service. You get the impression that this is a place where the management only cares about making as much money out of their customers as fast as possible. There is zero investment in the hotel. I have never seen such disgustingly stained carpets and smelly old rooms. We had to go like 10 times to the reception as our door lock was not working. Be prepared to receive highly abused calls from the reception if you happen to leave your rooms 10 minutes late at check out. I feel ashamed being German considering what foreign visitors will think of German hospitality after staying in this place.

Excellent location, close to public transportation and a short walk to the UN campus and to the downtown. The room was very spacious and I even had a lovely little terrace. The hotel was very clean and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Response from Property: Dear Laura, Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and the room and we hope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Petra Hupperich Front Office Shiftleader

1. The machine outside the door to swipe the hotel key was not functional --- and this was apparently known to the staff, but no sign was put outside. 2. The call button on the same machine was also not functioning. We tried MULTIPLE TIMES. Again, no sign put outside of this malfunction. 3. I called the number indicated, the line was ringing but then eventually rerouted to a gentelman. After verifying that I am indeed a checked in guest to the hotel, i was transferred to the front desk, where it was later on picked up by somebody else saying his colleague was on the phone and will attend to us shortly. We stood outside in the cold for 30 MINUTES and still NO ONE had appeared to be in the front desk, although it should be manned at all times espeically when the malfucntion of the machine is known!! 4. We found the BACK DOOR WAS OPEN !! and was able to make our way in the hotel. Looking in the room behind the front desk there was one person JUST SITTING THERE. He claims he never recieved a call and claims he did not hear us knocking and banging at the front. 5. We informed him that the machine was not functioning, which he confirmed he already was aware of. We informed him that the bell was not functioing and he had little to no concern on this matter. We informed him of the calls, and he denied ever receving or hearing any calls come through.

We had a very disappointing extended stay here. The condition of the rooms fell below our expectations, and we had numerous issues with maintenance, cleanliness and service. I cannot recommend staying here, especially for longer stays.

Could not of been nicer or more efficient other than the minor ******* as follows 1/ Only getting one sachet of hot chocolate each day for a double room. Despite requesting another was advised by the person servicing the room that this was not possible! Really!!! 2/ Provision of bathroom scales was a nicetouch, just a pity the the battery was flat and regretably my language skills were not up to making the hotel aware of this. Neither of these points detracted from a very pleasant experience THANK YOU

We really enjoyed our stay at the Living Hotel Kanzler. The terrace was great, the room was lovely, the free beers were enjoyed. The location was easily walkable to our conference at the WCCB, as well as many great museums in Bonn. The room rates were fair, and I recommend the terrace upgrade.

This was our second visit to this hotel. We were in room 103, one of their deluxe rooms which had a living area and a small kitchenette. Our adult daughter was with us. She had a fold up bed which was put up in the living area - it wasn’t the most comfortable. The room, along with all areas of the hotel was very clean. Nepresso coffee machine in room. Complimentary water was appreciated. Complimentary coffee was available in the reception area. Hotel is a 2min walk to the underground train which takes you quickly into the city centre. Breakfast was good though hot options were limited to bacon and eggs. (Baked beans were available on one of our three mornings). Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We would return to this hotel.

Stayed at the Kanzler for 4 nights on a recent business trip. It certainly is a homey place and has a very nice old-fashioned atmosphere. My room (212) was quite spacious and functional. It had good natural light, a desk to work at, and the Internet connection was problem-free. Typical of many European hotels, the bed was rather spartan and narrow in one corner. The carpet was a bit worn out. The lobby has good style with a spiral staircase leading up. There are also all the pictures of the (West) German chancellors and presidents (Olaf Scholz has not yet made it), which provide interesting historical reading (I didn't remember that Willy Brandt, important as he was, only served for 5 years, 1969-1974). The breakfast was excellent, especially for us northern types who enjoy a solid savory breakfast with breads, cheeses and cold cuts. There's a nice bar as well as a restaurant, although I did not try the latter. Apart from that, there are no restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, which is close to the university. I ended up walking to the old town on three of the nights -- about a 20 minute brisk walk. My meetings, on the other hand, were with German institutes and the UN, which were about another 20 minutes' walk to the opposite direction. I was initially frustrated with the location but, given the above, maybe it was a good compromise -- and one could walk along the beautiful riverside. I also want to acknowledge that the youthful staff at the reception, as well as those working in the bar, were extraordinarily friendly and helpful.
Response from Property: Dear JuhaUitto, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry, that you not enjoyed everything about your stay.
