Auberge de Jeunesse HI Boulogne-Sur-Mer

Location was disgusting, grey and sad. Run as fast as you can from Boulogne-sur-Mer. The lights were unpredictable and didn't work when turned on. Bugs in corners of the room. It obviously hadn't been cleaned well in a while. The walls were thin and it was noisy. light pollution everywhere but the blackout curtains kept it mostly dark. creepy buildings surrounding it. The food was very small and portions weren't great. The water tasted odd and the peas and carrots were grim. The staff were nice but only spoke french and the language barrier made it hard to communicate.

Was also woken up by someone opening my door at around 4.40am not good if I was a woman on my own anything could have happened

Be aware that this is a hostel, not a hotel. My disappointment cannot be captured here, but here goes: No pets allowed but greeted in reception by the receptionists Great Dane sniffing around us. Had to make and unmake our own beds. No towels in the room. No toiletries provided. Dirty room and tiles falling off in the shower. Not up to scratch and I will be seeking a refund.

Be aware that this is NOT a hotel, but a hostel. In my opinion, this should be made MUCH clearer. For the price, I did not expect to: 1. have to make and strip my own bed 2. find no towels in the room 3. find no toiletries 4. get very poor wifi in rooms 5. be greeted by the 'owners' Great Dane wandering around in a venue advertised as 'no pets allowed' 6. breakfast was adequate but basic 7. tiles falling off in the shower 8. poor standard of cleanliness in rooms and public areas 9. Floor tiles missing All in all, a very unsatisfactory experience.

Our first time in an HI in France, this was a good experience and much better than some of the reviews that we found! Clean. Decent. Safe and VERY HELPFUL staff. This compares very well to some of the bigger hostels that are (used to be!) in the UK. Location perfect for the station and 15 minutes walk to the centre. It's a Youth Hostel guys and not a HOTEL!!!! Remember that and you'll not be surprised.

Ideally situated 10 minute walk to the shops and bars. Secure off road parking outside the hotel for motorcycles. Friendly staff.

Good made friends I stayed with sick and was so horrible that it made me nearly be sick over the table on multiple ocassions rooms were shocking and there was mould all over with facility’s being unclean and damaged. I would never stay here again even if I was offered to for free.
