Macdonald Old England Hotel and Spa

The hotel's location is excellent, and the service was good, but the window in our room was tiny. Even though it was 12 degrees Celsius outside, it felt at least 28 degrees indoors. It was stuffy and hot at night, making it difficult to sleep, so our overall experience was quite mediocre.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right on the lake with unbeatable views. The hotel itself has great character and is exceptionally well-maintained and clean, exceeding expectations. Breakfast was also good, though it's à la carte. From the hotel, it's just a few minutes walk to the lakeside, shopping areas, and dining districts.

The location is absolutely central! The car park is also relatively close, about a 300-meter walk away, and costs around £10.60 for overnight parking. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops, with plenty of supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. Peter Rabbit's attraction is just a short walk away.

The location is convenient, but the hotel is very run-down! There are so many Indian guests! The facilities are ancient, like something out of a bygone era. The sink's hot and cold water taps are separate, so you can't adjust the temperature – it's really annoying to have to cup cold water with your hands, then add hot water to get a lukewarm mix for brushing your teeth! The room is cramped, and it's super noisy outside the window. Breakfast is terrible, and the service attitude is poor! I won't be coming back! It's not worth the price!

We booked three rooms, all on different floors, and one was in the furthest corner of the basement. It was incredibly stuffy. We checked in at 3:30 PM, and after seeing the room, we asked the front desk to switch. They told us there were no other rooms available that day and that we could only upgrade if we paid. The front desk staff was very arrogant, giving off the impression that if we didn't stay, plenty of other people would. The hotel's location is good, but the rooms are too small, the building is too old, and the service is terrible.

Great location, right by the lake. It's an old, classic British hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms.
