RRRosssMy family liked this hotel very much. We gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because we felt there was room for improvement in every area. The room and hotel was very clean but there were some stains on the bedding and towels. The hotel was on 42nd street but just a little too far from the main action. The hotel provided good services but we had to call multiple times for towels. Overall we’d still recommend the hotel very highly.

KKitrynThis hotel is immaculate and absolutely everybody is above and beyond pleasant. Though not directly affiliated with the hotel, Inexpensive, super clean and very easily accessible parking is a two minute walk away at 25 Kent St. We paid $64 for 2 1/2 days of parking. The room was incredible. Exposed brick walls with super high ceilings, the bathroom had a huge tub and a wonderful shower. Pro tip: if traveling with someone that you do not want to see you naked, understand that it is not a one-way mirror over the bar and you absolutely CAN see into the shower While someone is showering. Luckily I was with my daughter, so this was not a real issue. The restaurant within the hotel and the Ramen place directly next-door are both wonderful. I did not make it to the rooftop bar this time but since I absolutely will stay at this hotel every time I come to visit I will check it out next time! The room was extremely quiet, temperature was easy to control. Now, a little too much honesty, I am an extremely “sensitive” person, and resting and hearing so much from the second I stepped into this hotel. I was never scared, as I definitely don’t typically get scared, but I had numerous very genuine and very obvious things happen while I say that this hotel, such as seeing things walk across the hall in both my room and the hallway, in the main lobby bathroom someone walked into the bathroom and into the stall next to me, but never left, and when I looked, there was no one there, and I was in the shower. I could hear several men talking to each other as if they were right next to me. I was definitely not hearing people from another room. I also heard the door to the stair well open, which is right next to our room and I was right next to the door so when I looked, there was nobody there and I pulled it shut again. Just out of curiosity, as to what was there prior to the hotel, on the way home my daughter looked up the history to the hotel. Let’s just say it was very enlightening as to why i was experiencing so much activity in this hotel, especially on the third floor next to what I will assume would have been a fire escape at some point. It also may explain why the first thing that went through my mind when I opened the front door of the hotel and turned to my daughter and said “I’m surprised the hotel gets away with door opening inward. It goes against fire code. Anyway, You can look up the history yourself and understand all that I have said. :-) either way, a spectacular hotel at a decent price and a very safe and beautiful part of the city. I will definitely stay here again!

MMagicMilesThis was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Holiday Inn! I usually choose this hotel chain for its service quality, but this stay was incredibly disappointing.
I booked a Standard King Size room for two nights. When I checked-in at night, I received my key card and went to my room, only to find that it was a basement room with just a tiny window, not the large window room I had booked. I immediately went back to the Front Desk to request the correct room, but the staff told me that it was already full and only this room was available.
I asked why they didn’t hold the room I had booked since I should be getting what I paid for. Their response? ”Because you arrived at night.” This excuse made no sense at all! Then, another staff member (curly hair) walked over, mumbled complaints, showed an upset attitude, and finally said she would move me to a new room—but only for one night. The next day, I had to move back to the standard room. The way she handled the situation was extremely unprofessional. A staff member should never complain or show frustration in front of guests!
The next morning, my husband and I brought our luggage down and returned our key card as instructed. However, a different staff member told me that I could actually stay in the same room. So, I placed my luggage back in the room again and went out for the day. Before leaving, I specifically informed housekeeping to clean the room.
When I returned that night, I couldn’t access my room. After going back to the Front Desk, the staff told me that the room I originally booked was full, meaning I had to stay in the same room again. Worst of all, when I finally got back inside, the room had not been cleaned at all, even though I had requested it in advance!
Overall, this was the worst Holiday Inn experience I’ve ever had. The management was disorganized. This stay completely changed my perception of the Holiday Inn brand. I would never recommend this hotel!

AAnton26Great location….but that’s what you’re paying for.
Check in was fast and the staff were welcoming and friendly. There are umbrellas to use in the rainy weather and the front concierge staff are happy and greet you nicely.
The location is convenient- close to all main sites of NYC but just far away enough from the noise and bustle so you can have a peaceful night’s sleep. Air conditioning can be adjusted as our room got a little too cool for our comfort.
The luxury king room high floor itself is disappointing. Quite a bit more in cost compared to a standard king room, the room doesn’t have any fabulous views or even a bathtub that can accommodate someone comfortably. One website advertises the luxury king rooms have a ‘spa bath’. This is fact is not true and incorrect. Room slippers are very nice and there are enough towels for 2 people.
Pillows are too soft and the room furniture is tired-looking. Some peeling wallpaper as well indicating the need for a refit.
For the money, there’s no breakfast either and if you wish to extend your checkout after 11am, it’s $100 for 1-3 hours. A bit rich, considering you’re better off getting a lounge pass at the airport or simply go for a walk around this amazing city. To compensate, there’s an awesome diner 50m from the hotel that serves fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Bathroom products are lovely- Balmain and there’s only 1 bathrobe in the room, which I thought was strange, considering the booking was for 2 people. No minibar either… why is this?!
I would stay again simply because of the location but I would not pay for the luxury king room high floor again, as it’s not worth the money. Keep the location but take a standard room.

KKimKim Dight IuffredoWe decided to change hotels from our original in hell's kitchen to this one close to the park. We stayed for 3 nights in march 2024. We had a twin room on the 6th floor. Room 650. The entrance is quite grand and the lobby is really big. We checked in around 1600 hours. It was easy and we were aware of the additional charges, tax , deposit and resort fee. We'd read the reviews about the lifts being busy and some out of order. This was not an issue for us. Easy enough to walk the 6 flights of stairs as necessary. The check in staff were friendly and polite. We asked for a kettle for our room. This was delivered as were tea bags, sugar and milk along with paper cups. The room was ok. The beds were a good size. The view was of the street. The windows opened. The bathroom looked ok too. It had a bath tub. I wanted a bath. The shower was in the bath. On the surface, everything looked clean enough. The decor was a bit tired. There was a safe in the closet. The bedside lights had usb sockets and plug sockets. Very useful.
Once we were settled we started to notice issues. The bath plug didn't close. It was a push down plug. I didn't get to have my bath! The walls in the bathroom were dirty. When the shower water dripped on the tiles you could see black mould running down and into the bath tub. The mirror in the bathroom was peeling. We saw a bug running across the table area! We spoke with the cleaning staff and they said they would clean up the dirty tiles. We also spoke with reception. Someone was sent to our room to fix the plug in the bath tub. They didn't fix it. They removed the casing on the tub and just left it on the side. We reported this again and everything else we came across that was faulty or not acceptable. The staff were very polite and apologetic yet nothing actually got fixed. The edges of the room were really dirty.
The lounge area on the ground floor is really nice and the bar is well stocked. The loos though were not very clean and you did have to queue to get in to them. Access only with a room key.
The actual hotel is connected to the Manhattan Club Hotel. We used the bar on the 26th floor a couple of times. It was really nice.
Upon check out we reiterated the issues that we had and staff were very apologetic and returned our deposit and resort fee. Maybe that's why a resort fee is added to these hotels. You feel like you are getting something back when in fact I don't believe a resort fee is actually that fair. Are you paying for the use of a kettle? The bar? It is listed what the resort fee entitles you to. As I mentioned, I was aware of this.
Would I stay here again? Probably not, despite the great staff and fab location and cheap room rates. I understand there is a refit of the lifts going on. Not sure about cleaning and updating of the decor. Something needs to be done to improve this hotel. I think it was probably quite glamorous back in the day.
BBINBINExcept for an extra charge of $ 49 per person per day of the resort fee, this is not acceptable, and I hope to cancel it.
Good location, same building with park central. Manhattan club
Newly renovated, but the toilet and bathroom in the room are too small, only half the size of the Manhattan club
Breakfast was generous and dinner was negligible,
Opposite diagonally is Carnegie Hall, the subway station is right out, walk 10 minutes to times square 5 minutes to central park
15 minutes by subway to Wall Street,
If you can cancel the resort fee. I will book this hotel every time I go
Otherwise, I would still choose Manhattan club
LLyss_ssI made a reservation online for 4 days, and on the 4th day I went to the hotel front desk to renew for 2 more days for a total of 6 nights (renewal on site was very expensive, official website price). During this period, I changed rooms once because the room I got for the first time was too low and had no view.
The facilities are rudimentary, and there are no slippers and pajamas. Not to mention that many American hotels don’t have them. The ambient light under the bed in the second room was broken. The wardrobe door was deformed and could not be closed. When the right cabinet door was opened, it would hit the bulge on the top. The air outlet can only be opened to about 60 degrees and cannot be fully opened. The faucet is obviously too short and difficult to use. These are all errors in design and construction, which are outrageous.
One night at 1:30 in the morning, the fire alarm in the room announced that there was a fire. After broadcasting it four times, we all planned to run away. Then the broadcast said it was okay. The alarm buzzer and the loudspeaker were loud. The white girl next door said that she immediately went to find a job. Personnel but no one, outrageous.
The staff are very good-looking.
The design of the hotel space is very good. As we all know, there is no design in the United States, so we come here just for the sense of design. The experience is average. If I go to New York again, I will not come back.
AAnonymous UserManaged to arrive early and allowed early check-in at 1pm plus instead of 4pm. The caucasian woman stationed at the check-in counter was not the most friendly person. I passed her my credit card and was waiting for her to instruct me to sign for receipt. After a long pause, i realized i have to do something with the machine, and asked her where do i click for the machine. She did not respond kindly. I understand not every American has travelled widely and tends to provide poorer quality services as compared internationally. Hereby pointing this out, as a matter of fact, the hotel need to understand not every country use the same brand of credit card machine/POS as the Americans. The hotel staff should not expect foreign guests to know how the machine or hotel works. Also, there is no instruction on the machine ‘Please sign here’. The staff should at least provide a verbal instruction for signature on the machine. If the staff cannot be bothered with providing verbal instructions, please paste a visual aid on the machine at the minimum. Thankfully, the asian guy during check out was much friendlier and tried to start a conversation, but i was having a cold so i tried to minimise interaction. The interiors were old fashioned like in 90s. Fortunately, the room was clean and lit with multiple lamps around the room. As with most reviews, I was charged twice on my credit card on first day and last day each. Asking for a refund through my card service now as unauthorised charge was made on the last day and it wasn’t even on the receipt/expense report. I would gladly just pay for everything on my Day one, instead of going through such trouble. No receipt for deposit or cancellation, unlike other hotels i have been to. Service and amenities are average. No slippers available in the room. Locker for valuables provided. Own coffee machine provided in-room, but don’t set high expectations as it’s not Nespresso. There is no in-room dining menu for reference, even if i want to get. 30$USD destination fee per night is compulsory but exchangeable for 2hr bike rental in central park for two pax or food in the hotel. It feels like the hotel wants to charge you extra but don’t want to provide the service paid. I didn’t bother to purchase food from hotel as the reviews were average. Recommend to visit Los Tacos No. 1 & Broad Nosh Bagels a few blocks away for breakfast and lunch. The best point and only positive point is the hotel location. Just behind MoMA and near proximity landmarks such as Rockefeller Centre, and two streets away from 5th Avenue and Central Park. Only stayed here for convenience as a friend was also staying in the same hotel for business needs.
DDandadziThe breakfast was the worst I have ever seen in all my travels . The hotel can do better . The staff was quite professional . The water wasn’t hot the first two days
