The best place to stay in South West of Western Australia. The hospitality, cleanliness, prettiness and lovely staff is second to none! Jenny and her staff are so obliging and nothing is too much trouble. I have stayed at Ford house over 6 times in the past.

Ford House Retreat has been one of the best little retreats I’ve visited out of Perth so far! It’s just beautiful, it’s surrounded by a well-kept garden, with so many hidden gems throughout the property. My colleague and I stayed a night as a stopover over and we’ll be bringing back our family, we loved it that much. They served the most delicious breakfast, the service was phenomenal the food was fresh, and their breakfast room was by far our BEST EXPERIENCE! You can spend hours in there looking at all the little trinkets and you can’t stop staring at the beautiful things around you while you eat. It felt like you were transported to a festive winter wonderland. The rooms were extremely clean, check-in was a breeze and the lady at reception was so accommodating. I’d highly recommend staying here! 10/10

The 125 year old residence, the very comfortable brass 4-poster bed, the breakfast barn (😂), and the fantastic team of ladies that run the property, our stay was fantastic!! Gorgeous period furniture and fittings, the sitting room with its gramophone, fire stoves in every room.... Just amazing. Breakfast was great- the custom bread was huge and delectable, the cereal and fruits were tasty, and the bacon and eggs perfect! Best eggs I've ever tasted!! Thanks to all the ladies that made our stay memorable!!

We stayed for one night in the Honeymoon Suite as we booked quite late and it was available. The room was one of two in a standalone cottage (Aislinn House) in the grounds with shared access to a large kitchen and lounge. Very spacious and comfortable room although the soft furnishings (sofa, cushions, bedspread) smelt a bit musty and could probably do with an airing. The garden is extensive and absolutely beautiful and well worth exploring. The property runs down to the Blackwood River and, as well as the historic Ford House to marvel at, there are some beautiful landscaped areas and the WAG Walters Emporium to browse. The shop and its quirky wares must make this one of the most unique B+Bs anywhere. Breakfast in the morning is served in the barn, which is part of the emporium so there is no end of things to pique your interest. Staff were very helpful and lovely. The B+B is also within walking distance to the main street of Bridgetown which makes it handy for accessing places to dine in the evening.

Made a very last min decision to go for a one night stay...simply just to see those autumn leaves at Balingup. But everywhere was booked out so the best option was to stay at the next town Bridgetown. Overall my stay at Ford House was ok. I gave 4 stars for the amazing service and breakfast and garden, BUT unfortunately sleep quality is not very good at all. The historical house is beautiful and well maintained. My single Green room was clean and big enough for myself. It took a while to get warm and comfortable cos I arrived quite late, but once I did, it was great! Bathroom was clean and shared, but I didn't really have to wait or fight for it much so it was alright. The kitchen, dining room and lounge room were also all very well taken care off too. The staff were amazing and very friendly. Trish served me on my checkin and she already turned on the heater to warm up my room. I also met a very lovely couple who's a friend of the owner and they kindly offer their house for my stay when I come back next time. It's always nice when you get to know the locals. The most memorable part of my stay was the delicious breakfast! Those homemade peaches were simply delightful. The chef cooked an amazing omelette! I should have asked if I could have the fried eggs too (happy to pay extra charge) cos I heard from other guests the fried eggs were amazing. The breakfast barn and the tables and shops setup literally took my breath away. Couldn't stop taking pictures! There are lots of beautiful gifts and products to buy. The beautiful gardens and ginger bread house were very relaxing and cute. I actually spent more time here in the garden after my check out than at Balingup which actually worked out to be better cos there's barely any autumn leaves left at Golden Valley Tree whereas at Ford House, there's still one tree left, right outside of the house where I was at, that still had those beautiful fiery red autumn leaves so I took quite a bit of pictures with it LOL A stroll right up to the river and the bridge was very peaceful and relaxing. And I also love the small town of Bridgetown and the peaceful picturesque drive to/from. Now the bad parts: Like I said, I couldn't really sleep well at all. My Green Room is in a house with 4 other rooms, though it shares bathroom with only 2 rooms. As expected with shared house/facilities, you would definitely hear everything and everyone! Unless you're a really deep sleeper. Footsteps on squeaky floors, ppl waking up to go to bathroom in the middle of the night, I even heard the guy next door snoring LOL and the Green Room was right next to the bathroom so I could hear the toilet flushing, showers etc...but like I said, it was kinda expected. Hence I still give 4 stars. Also, the heater in my room was actually quite small and not enough to warm up the room. So it got quite cold at some point at night, but after I settled in with all the blankets, it was alright. Overall it was an ok stay. A detached house wou

We stayed in the Cooks Retreat room. It has its own entrance and is a large room with French doors looking out onto a lovely garden and river. Location is great, easy walk to Nelsons restaurant on the main street. Very clean room. Spa bath was great. Breakfast was great.

Big thank you to Jenny and the Ford house team. You made organising our wedding there easy and fun. Our garden ceremony was perfect in the immaculate grounds, with the Blackwood river flowing past. Ford house and Cooks Retreat were beautiful buildings with so much character and provided a lovely experience to get ready in for our wedding and to stay the night in. The Barn dining room beautiful as always and the setting for a yummy breakfast the day day, perfect cooked bacon and eggs with homemade preserved fruits, bread and yoghurt. An experience of a lifetime we will treasure always.

I stayed at Ford House about 10 years ago in the double room and back then the shared bathroom was shabby. Stayed on the weekend and it’s more shabby and run down now. I stayed in the single room and the bed base was broken and a leg was missing, I was rolling out of the bed and the whole thing felt unsafe so I pulled the mattress on the floor and slept there. It was warm so I put the fan on and all I could smell was dust as the dust was flying everywhere. The French door could also not close so I felt unsafe sleeping there as well. After having a really bad nights sleep on the floor and spending $130 ish to sleep on the floor, I then went to breakfast in the morning. I was the only one the cook had to cook for as the others were eating and I asked for scrambled eggs…that was way too hard for her. I then asked the poached eggs to be not runny…and they came out runny. After reporting the broken bed in the morning to the staff, there was no offer of some kind of discount. This place is a disaster, it’s dusty, broken doors, food was sad, unhelpful staff so steer clear are better places in Bridgetown.
