This is a very difficult review to write as the Pheasant has some excellent qualities but, when taken overall, it was very dissapointing. First the good things - the food/cooking was superb, both the breakfasts and the evening meal - much better than your average gastropub. The waiting team was very friendly and helpful but, given the menu, they could add some similar 'polish' that would enhance the experience (such as offering guests to taste the wine and then pour rather than just dumping the bottle on the table). That said, on food and service alone, we would have been very happy. However, the room, costing £135/night was well below the standard expected of that price. There was no working wi-fi anywhere. We were in Room 1 which had a tiny shower, a TV that was miniscule (smaller than my PC screen and it only worked intemitently), rotting windows that needed replacing, no bottled water, and was quite noisy being very close to the road. It would have been fine at say, £70 a night but not at £135. We didn't know it was a community pub which could be the cost driver, but I felt ripped off by the price. Taken overall, we were very dissapointed - the pub needs investment to build on an excellent catering foundation - and the rooms need a dramatic refurbishment if they are to attract more visitors.

Drive through rolling stunning green countryside, off the beaten track but very accessible. Idyllic country pub offering fabulous food, from delicious breakfast the delicious dinners. Stay there, as we did in the very comfortable apartment. Very convenient, allowing you to explore the delights of Ludlow,Roman Wroxeter, Tarrington Park, Bridgnorth and many more. A great way to thoroughly enjoy your weekend, we did and our dog!

A superb place to sit, relax and stay. Spent a few nights at The Phesant in the apartment . Wondeful accomadation and superb staff always on hand. The food is superb , and when you think how far from the coast the seafood was blissful. The fish and chips was amazing. Spotless accomadation and great to sleep in a proper bed with decent pillows. Excellent value for both the apartment and food - and again cannot stress how good the food is. Good selection of non - alcoholic drinks available.

On the hop they accommodated us as a last minute booking and we got a great spot ! We were seated and promptly got drinks and ordered food swiftly . All three meals were fresh and cooked to perfection . It was a lovely atmosphere and staff were very attentive bringing drinks and complimentary table water . Desserts were presented very well and we will definitely be returning soon !

Lovely comfortable room. We were able to check in early and given clear instructions to do this. Breakfast was ordered the evening before and it was excellent. We also had dinner the evening we arrived and really enjoyed the varied and interesting menu.

During our week’s stay in Shropshire we’ve visited the sister pub, the Tally Ho, twice and tonight the Pheasant. Had a delicious pork schnitzel with tagliatelle, wild mushrooms, a white wine cream sauce and greens. It was absolutely sensational. It was literally hmmmm-mmmm with every mouthful. We’ve had three amazing experiences with this pub ownership and just wished I lived closer to visit more frequently. The Lyre Bird Shiraz was also sublime. Well done team Pheasant / Tally Ho. You’re such a rare breed in this industry… please stay true to your principles because what you do is quality and utterly divine!

Mark and his team do a fantastic job at the The Pheasant, their passion shines through everything they do. The food was top quality, snd the pheasant has a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy the food. All if the staff we met on the day were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We stayed overnight in the adjacent rooms which were very clean, spacious and had fantastically comfortable beds! This is a community owned pub and restaurant with rooms, and they are doing a wonderful job if it. We will be back for the Sunday lunch which looks spectacular too!

We don’t live to far away but didn’t know this place existed until we found it on TripAdvisor. And we are so pleased we did. We received the warmest of welcomes on arrival by the manager (who is a doppleganger for the boxer Dave Allen by the way). We were seated at a table for two, which was the size of a 4 top in some establishments! The food was excellent value for money. We were surprised at the comparatively low prices for a frequently changing menu. Enough choice to appeal to everyone without carrying too many items (which is always an indication of low quality.) The servers were very friendly, and always available. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Not fine dining but certainly elevated restaurant quality food. The garden at the rear is simply stunning too. We will certainly be returning. Thanks for a super evening.

Makes a delicious change to have a menu that’s different from the norm. Experienced and enjoyed new flavours. I’ve never raved about potato Rostti with the Hake but the taste was Moreish. If you want to try something new this is the place to go.
