I booked a last-minute stay at Kea Garden Mini Chalet for a mix of business and leisure, and it was a massive disappointment. The entire property feels chaotic and squeezed together, with the check-in counter awkwardly placed right in the middle of everything. If you are driving, the carpark is a major hazard—the steep slope ends in a sharp, blind corner that is highly risky for inexperienced drivers.
The Accommodation:
The chalets are built on an elevated steel platform with panel flooring directly above the parking spaces. Because of this structural design, the entire room shakes and vibrates whenever people walk or work nearby. Space-wise, the chalet is literally the exact footprint of a queen-size mattress. The ceiling is so low that you cannot stand up straight inside unless you are under 4 feet tall.
The Bathroom Nightmare:
While the staff (both local and foreign) were attentive and polite, the management and maintenance of this property are unacceptable. The bathroom situation is a total nightmare. As you can see from the photos, it consists of bare, stained concrete blocks, peeling paint, and visible green mold and grime. The plumbing is entirely DIY, including a cheap, cracked showerhead. The layout features a long, industrial-looking corridor with a concrete floor and a row of basic plastic sinks. It feels incredibly unhygienic, and I had to be extremely careful not to let my skin touch the walls while trying to rinse off.
Location & Value:
The property is located at the chilly peak of Cameron Highlands, but everything nearby shuts down completely after 8:00 PM, making a vehicle absolutely mandatory. Frankly, paying to sleep on a mattress laid on a shaky platform above a carpark felt like a joke. I honestly would have been more comfortable, safer, and cleaner just sleeping inside my car. Avoid this place if you can.
