Asked for a quiet room. Was able to check in early however, was given a room with incessant road noise and a security light that shone right into the room till 1:30 am. If you stay here in summer you have to leave the window open as it is too hot so cannot shut out the road noise. Also the shutters when closed do not keep out the light. On one night neighbour in next door room sat in his car drunk, smoking and chatting under our window till one thirty am then came back and watched TV and made noise till three am. It is understandable that the hotel can't do anything about noisy neighbours but there seemed to be no other guests in the other rooms so wondered why he was put right next to us. The room was not made up during our stay and the cafeteria was left dirty from the previous guests. The mattress was saggy and the bedding poor quality The room was the size of a shoebox. The bedroom and bed were so tiny that if I turned I bumped my head against the bedside table. There was no management to address any issues to apart from a breakfast waitress who though friendly could do nothing. On checkout a junior staff member asked me how my stay went, it was obvious he could do nothing but express sorrow. Breakfast on one morning was great on the other not so. Very inconsistent. Car park had random discarded bits of furniture that should be cleaned up. There seems to be a lack of management oversight. I guess it could have been worse, at least the staff were nice :-)

Started off alright then went downhill. Server ok in the beginning, then when we said we were not quite happy with the meal, all he said was will tell chef, and abruptly left, no apology would not reccomend.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. We had a lovely meal and the room was comfy and had everything we needed. The room could’ve been cleaner, but overall it was ok. Breakfast was a bit of a wait, really they should’ve have said to people. We didn’t mind, but others gave up waiting. When it came though it was really delish so I’d say worth the wait just could’ve done with more cups of tea.

We enjoyed our 1 night stay at this pub. We got a very good deal through *********** so much better value than staying in Bristol. The room was very comfortable, stylish and recently renovated. Wifi was easy and good. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was modern with a great rainfall shower. The full size toiletries were excellent quality. Considering it is a pub, it was very quiet to sleep at night, although it was a Wednesday in February so might be different on a weekend in summer. The pub was buzzing, very nicely decorated and the young staff were friendly and competent. The food was very good. Join the brewery loyalty scheme and you get 25% off food on Wednesdays and other special offers. Quiet in the morning but we enjoyed the little cooked breakfast and again, the waiter was helpful and friendly. Drive a few miles toward Bristol and the Park and Ride is right on that road. Makes visiting Bristol cheaper and more pleasant. The management need to update their photos on here, I wouldn't have stayed if I'd seen those pictures before!

Just been to the rising sun for a birthday meal & feel so disappointed. 3 of us wanted the king prawn linguine, only to find they had run out. Mother in law order chicken curry & when it arrived it was cold? More staff than customers so you’d have thought the service would have been good …. But alas no…. Mother in law order a cuppa tea which didn’t arrive so was cancelled. When we came to pay the bill they gave us 2 free meals as we weren’t happy but even with these deductions it was very expensive for what we had. Definitely won’t be going back. Very disappointed.

We’ve enjoyed visiting The Rising Sun many times, however this time we came away feeling very disappointed. We ordered a chicken dish and a filo pastry pie. The portion sizes seemed a lot smaller than before and although we don’t have large appetites we left feeling hungry. The smaller meals do not mean smaller prices sadly, quite the opposite. All in all, a disappointing meal.

Had a very nice lunch here, sitting in the lovely peaceful garden with comfortable seating. Very friendly and helpful service. Food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Large car park, plenty of space. Good for families. Would recommend highly

Lovely pub with comfortable room. Friendly staff and nice beer. I was greeted with a warm welcome and escorted to my room. Tea/coffee making facilities were present and fresh milk available on request in the bar. I only had breakfast once but it was tasty and well presented.

When we arrived at 8.45pm there was only a young lad there waiting with our key. Apparently the owners had done a moonlight flit and left everything to be sorted out by the young man who honestly did his best. There was no food on offer as they had closed the pub. The room was very clean and very comfortable (thank goodness). Limited coffee and tea facilities though. They had a lot of maintenance people there the next day which was a bit noisy. Such a shame as it has the makings of a nice place.
