From the moment we arrived at the beautiful Hotel Van Cleef , we felt so welcomed and attended to . The hotel decor is beautiful and well appointed . Our room was perfect , with a large modern bathroom and very comfortable bedding . We wanted for nothing during our stay as there was always a hotel employee ready to meet our needs no matter the time of day . The cocktail bar was charming and had a wonderful selection of beer,, wine and cocktails . The part of the hotel I loved the best was the beautiful terrace right on the canal ! The weather was not conducive to using this space , but on the day we checked out , the sun came out and the staff was quick to arrange some seating for us on the terrace as well as an outstanding Belgian waffle to end our stay . The hotel offers an outstanding breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed . I am so pleased we chose the Hotel Van Cleef and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the charming city of Bruges .

This was a great boutique hotel. It is in a quiet part of the city but close to the center of the city. The staff is very helpful and efficient. The rooms and the entire hotel are beautifully decorated and very clean.

This is a lovely and charming boutique hotel with all the special touches you don’t get in the bigger hotels. The fantastic staff also elevated the stay, along with the lovely furnishings, an amazing breakfast, and a great location. One nice thing that separates this hotel from others in Bruges is that the rooms themselves are modern. They aren’t filled with gold encrusted fake fancy furniture, but rather a clean modern aesthetic. This is one of the reasons we chose it. One of the staff needs a special mention: Benjamin, who is there in the afternoons, made our stay especially wonderful. He was always friendly and professional, and willing to help with what we needed (usually a bucket of ice!) We went to a great restaurant that we had not considered based on his recommendation (and he made the reservation for us) and had a car that was big enough for us and our suitcases waiting for us when we left on our last day. A huge thank you goes to him. The breakfast was also outstanding; not only were the pastries (so fresh, with a French attention to crispness and butteriness), cheese/meat, rolls, fruit selection and tea/coffee service wonderful—but the made to order eggs were as well. The ham and cheese omelet was soft inside and the pancakes were light but substantial. The chef himself brings them out and there is definite pride in all the made to order dishes. The breakfast room is extremely comfortable as well...we found ourselves lingering there for a long breakfast instead of getting moving like we planned! The room was comfortable with an unusual setup; we had a duplex room overlooking the canal with a sofa upstairs. Though it had a canal view and a nice one, it’s worth noting you had to stand at the window to see it as the windows are high off the floor. We didn’t end up using the upstairs much as there was plenty of seating downstairs in our bedroom area. But the spacious feeling was appreciated with the extra height in the bedroom area. The toiletries provided were also very nice. The shower was not tall in height, but the rain shower was great—lots of water pressure and nozzles. We didn’t try the oversized tub. Everything was very clean, and continued to be well cleaned during our stay. It was a lovely stay, and easy walking distance to all the sights in Bruges. We’re very happy we chose the Van Cleef.

I’ve not really wanted to write this review as I only ever write good ones but I decided to incase anyone finds themselves in the same situation. We booked this hotel for 3 days over Christmas and it was just myself and my husband, we wanted something cozy and special. We decided to book the suite with canal views which was the highest priced and best category room option. We thought it is justified as we are spending Christmas Day and wanted to spend time in the room with some champagne and food etc. The room we got was not the room advertised on the website or *********** with big windows and canal views, it was the loft type room that was quite tired with small windows in the roof so in order to see the canal you had to stand up and poke your head through. There was however a normal window at the side of the bed which looked onto the car park. The owner advised us that this is one of the suites they offered to guests but the one that I thought I was booking had been reserved now by another guest … although we were both paying the same price. We did try to make other reservations elsewhere but as it was Christmas obviously everywhere was full so we just had to swallow it. Another thing is the extra cost of breakfast, for these prices they could at least give you the continental breakfast … and if you want eggs it’s another cost again. I must add that when checking out my husband spoke to the owner about our disappointment with the room and he reduced the price slightly. All in all the hotel is beautiful and the staff were nice, I just wish we would have booked somewhere else in Bruges for our special trip.

What a fantastic experience. The hotel staff are super friendly and helpful. In fact, one stood out in the rain when we left to open the car park - which sums up the attention to the customer. When you first enter the hotel, you are struck by the sheer style of the place. A drink is provided when you check-in, and your bags appear in your room as if by magic. The rooms are lovely. The location is also great. It is in a lovely residential part of Bruges, but it is an easy walk to everything. But the best part is the breakfast. AMAZING. I could have spent all day eating and drinking. Hotel Van Cleef is for you if you want to be spoilt and like style. PS. I was traveling with two young boys treated very nicely by everyone.

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed in. It is among the 150 hotels that must be seen by tourism authorities. History, decoration and service are in perfect harmony with each other. You can master the details in photos and videos. The service quality is top notch. The employees are incredibly educated and cultured. A hotel that has been a family for years, with its building and employees dating back to the Van Cleef dynasty. This luxury boutique hotel where style comes with substance, where classical is mixed with contemporary and where cutting edge facilities are combined with good old-fashioned service standards.

This hotel is amazing. This ranks as one of the top 3 hotels we have ever enjoyed after many years and countries of travel. Upon check-in, the staff not only made sure our luggage made it to our room before we opened the door, but when we inquired about restaurant recommendations, they asked about our food interests and made reservations for us at fantastic places nearby that were obviously frequented by locals, not just tourists. The breakfast (pastries, buns, fruit, coffee, and eggs benedict) was out of this world. In the evening, sitting on the canal with a cocktail was made even more comfortable when the staff, noting the chill, provided us with blankets without having to request them. The decor is so chic it could be on the cover of Architectural Digest. The quiet location on a side street is a 5-15 min walk to all of the central historical sites. Although this hotel is not inexpensive, we splurged and upgraded to a canal-view room. Even so, we felt our money was very well spent. We would highly recommend Hotel Van Cleef to anyone looking to stay in a quiet, upscale, comfortable, and well-appointed hotel located in a central location.

I’m not one to spend time writing reviews, but I feel this hotel was so outstanding, it was due. The hotel is immaculately decorated with every detail tended to. While you may often find facilities in excellent shape, the service was outstanding and definitely sets this property apart. The owners and staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome and accommodated every need, even without request. Our weather was not an excellent, so we did not get to enjoy the outdoor patio adjacent to the canal, but the view was quite lovely. Our highlight was the daily breakfast and related service. Additionally, the evening cocktail hour was extremely relaxing and welcoming. The staff made excellent recommendations as far as restaurants and travel arrangements. If we find ourselves back in Bruges , we will definitely stay here again.

From the moment we arrived, great personal experience, very helpful staff nothing is room much even anticipating our every need and taking time to get to know their guests. Hotel a very short walk from main sites, 5 minutes. Very well appointed, good toiletries and good quality tea in room. Eclectic design and spotless. Good recommendations for dinner, take they’re advice as there are a lot of ropey restaurants in Bruges.
