Dream Gobi Lodge

Food: The lodge provides delicious, well-prepared meals with a variety of options, including breakfast with customizable eggs and dietary accommodations. Food quality is highlighted as a key strength, with fresh preparation and a good selection of dishes.

I stayed here for four nights as part of a small group tour. The lodge is out in the middle of the Gobi Desert so there was no noise. All the gers had ensuite bathrooms. There were two twin beds but only one of them was made up because I paid for a solo room. I always find it a bit stingy when a hotel only provides one towel and one unmade bed. It was also strange that a kettle and one cup was provided but no water, tea or coffee. There was a hand soap dispenser in the bathroom that was empty when I arrived. It wasn't refilled the entire time I was there despite me taking off the lid and turning it upside down as a visual hint that it needed to be refilled. No other soap was provided so I refilled it myself using the body wash from the shower. The lodge advertises that it has a pool but it was empty when we were there and I don't think it is filled very often. All gers have a skylight in the middle of the roof which lets in the light as there are no windows in a ger. If you go in summer, you will need eye shades as it is light from about 4.30 am and there is no way to close the skylight. The breakfast was good if a little basic. Dinner was a starter, a choice of 4 mains, and dessert. Serving sizes were generous. The lodge asks that guests have a tab for any purchases such as alcohol or massages. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be a good system. Several people in our group were charged for things they hadn't purchased or not charged for things they did purchase. I suggest that you check whenever you buy something. They are not trying to cheat guests, but they struggle to get the room numbers correct. It was a great experience staying in the middle of the desert with no other lights visible for miles around.

Our group spent 3 nights here. We stayed in the standard gers, although there are deluxe ones. Ours had two single beds, tea kettle, a fan, table and top light, a few hooks for hanging clothes and an en-suite bathroom. Wi-Fi works in the main lodge. Breakfast was simple but good and cooked eggs to order were available to order. You pre order your lunch or dinner - a couple entrees to choose from. Beer, wine and some hard alcohol is available for purchase. We went out by our SUVs to visit Yol Valley and Flaming Cliffs during our stay.
