The occasion of our stay at this wonderful pub / hotel was a sad one. The passing of a dear friend with the wake also held here. Prior to our journey, we e-mailed the Manager requesting some extra help. Nothing was too much trouble and everything we requested was available to us on early arrival that morning. After attending the memorial service, all family and friends came to The Rose and Crown for refreshments and to support each other, especially very close family of the bereaved. The bar was extremely well presented and drinks were flowing throughout the rest of the day. Food was fresh and again well presented and plentiful. We had our evening meal in the restaurant. Outstanding! We drank our way into the late evening before retiring upstairs. I cannot praise enough each and every member of staff for their kindness, warmth and hospitality. Steve runs a brilliant pub / hotel. Natalie was so professional and nothing was too much trouble. Even Maintenance Manager Scottie made himself available throughout our stay to ensure we were well looked after during difficult circumstances. A true gentleman and an outstanding member of the team that runs this establishment to a superbly high standard.

Informed by a friend of mine, I must go and visit. Was so glad I did, what a great pub and very friendly staff. Had a lovely dinner-time pie meal, which was fantastic, cooked by Chef Craig. Not many Chef's of this quality about now a days. This place is a must to visit, just wish I lived closer. Martyn

I stayed at the Rose and Crown on several occasions while my father was in end-of-life care at a Nursing Home a short drive away. I honestly cannot rate this place highly enough - it deserves more than five stars! The rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are super-comfortable, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious and the place has a really good vibe. I've been to many hotels over the years and I have to say the Rose and Crown is one of the best places I've stayed, particularly when you factor in cost. I had breakfast included, which was freshly cooked and extremely good value. The coffee is great too. I was going through a very difficult time with my father's situation and the Rose and Crown was my little oasis in the midst of all the grief. I stayed on three separate occasions - each time in a different room - and they were all nicely appointed. The biscuits and sweets with the tea and coffee making facilities were a nice touch. I also visited for lunch and dinner and the food was delicious and well-presented, with generous portions. Whenever I visited, the pub was busy - sometimes busier than others - but I got the feeling it's a lively place with lots going on. I felt comfortable as a woman travelling on my own and eating in the restaurant or in the bar. There is plenty of parking - with a bigger car park on the right just beyond the pub if the spaces outside are full. I thoroughly recommend this place - for a drink, a meal or an overnight stay.

Undoubtedly the best roast dinner I’ve ever had! Roast beef was cooked to perfection as were the accompaniments. Dessert equally mouth watering. Our waitress Lily was all smiles and so patient, kind and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. She’s a credit to this pub. Lovely girl. It was for my mums 80th so we came back for a second time and so glad we did!! Lovely atmosphere definitely book in advance. All family had a wonderful time. We’ll be back Thankyou!

Visiting the area and popped in for something to eat & drink, the young lad was so welcoming and attentive, the young girl serving food was also so helpful/attentive. Would highly recommend this pub for drink/food also dogs are made welcome.

Beds very comfy and staff very pleasant and helpful. However the twin room was really small. Did not like the wash basin in the room rather than the bathroom and to make matters worse the shower didn't have any power so couldn't be used. No one except the chef was available to help on that morning! We were asked to pay on our arrival which given the fact the shower didn't work there was no one there at breakfast to ask for any refund Breakfast was good and we had a place to park.

Avoid the steak and ale pie at all costs. One of the poorest meals we’ve had in a long time. We used to frequent the pub several years ago and were never disappointed. Changes of ownership have presumably lead to this lovely old pub not keeping the high standards and this was well exemplified in a truly awful meal. Very disappointed. We won’t be going back.

Stayed overnight on a Saturday and were happy with the room and service. Room was comfortable and quiet; like most hotels/inns post-Covid, décor probably needs a bit of attention but everything worked and there were nice toiletries, TV etc. Bed was comfortable and the room peaceful and quiet (blackout blinds!). Breakfast was included (full English and/or cereal; cereals choice limited but the food was otherwise delicious. Staff friendly and helpful and we felt welcome. Surprised that we were asked for payment as we checked in, before we’d even seen the room but we were satisfied with the price and accommodation.

Had (another) very enjoyable lunch at the Rose & Crown yesterday (31st July) in group of four adults. The service we received was quick and efficient and the food delicious, chosen from an extensive menu plus several extras of the day, all at reasonable prices. Additionally we have joined the Revived Inns Diner's Club and received a 10% discount on our meals, so extra good value. We have dined at the Rose & Crown many times over recent years and look forward to every return meal there, not only because the food and service is good, but the staff are always jovial and friendly, making the whole dining experience memorable and enjoyable. The pub itself is attractive, clean and comfortable, we look forward to our next visit.

Visited for a meal in the restaurant . Table was sticky and no placemats or beer mats. I ordered a beef burger and chips. Burger was raw and only surface cooked. My partner had beer battered fish which had come out of the freezer and was an unpleasant colour and tasteless. The service was very bad, once the meal was served we were abandoned for 45 mins. We then ordered tea which did not come so we gave up. After complaining I was not charged for the burger, but the damage was done.

Everything on the menu is frozen, the food is lazy and dire. We have tried it a couple of times since new owners took over, as it used to be somewhere we’d eat at least once a week. It desperately needs a re vamp! How hard is it to serve a few fresh dishes! The menu doesn’t have to be extensive!
