Title: A Nightmare in Busan – Absolutely NOT a 4-Star Hotel! Stay Away!
Rating: 1 / 5
As an experienced traveler who has visited 72 countries for business and leisure—staying in hundreds of accommodations ranging from luxury resorts to hostels and tents—I can confidently say that our family stay at Brown Suites Busan was one of the absolute worst hotel experiences of my life.
This property does not deserve its 4-star rating on Trip.com. Here is why:
No Reception & Confusing Self Check-In: Finding the property was a nightmare. There is no traditional front desk; everything is managed via complex apps and vague digital instructions. After a long, exhausting international flight, struggling just to figure out how to enter the building and get keys is unacceptable.
Terrible Logistics in August Heat: Support chat was painfully slow, offering canned responses like "we are checking." When we finally reached a staff member on the 2nd floor, we were given keys and instructed to haul 5 heavy suitcases through a hot, humid underground parking garage just to find the correct elevator.
Disappointing View: Being a tall high-rise building, we had reasonable expectations of enjoying a sea view. Instead, we were terribly disappointed to find that our window faced a neighboring building and an active construction site.
Unbearable Garbage Stench (Avoid Room 1003!): Upon reaching our floor, we were hit with a revolting smell. Room 1003 is located directly next to the floor's garbage chute. The stench was so overwhelming it made us gag. Support's only solution after a long wait was to spray cheap air freshener. For all 4 days, my family had to literally sprint through the hallway holding our breath.
Terrifying Nighttime Fire Alarm: At 2:00 AM, our entire family was jolted awake by a blaring fire alarm with announcements only in Korean. With no reception desk and zero chat support available at that hour, we were left panicked and confused.
Isolated Location & Lack of Amenities: The location near Busan Station and the passenger port is completely dead. There is only one coffee shop, a couple of CU convenience stores, and a single sushi restaurant. If you are hungry outside of that, you are out of luck. We had to take taxis everywhere—to the main beaches, fish markets, and key attractions.
Our stay in Busan was too short to waste time changing hotels, but I deeply regret not leaving after the first night. Save yourself the stress, health hazard, and frustration—do NOT book this place.
