The Royal Level family rooms do not have any heating/air conditioning at present. We stayed over the Christmas period and due a drop in temperature and winds across the island the rooms became incredibly drafty and cold. The Royal Level allows you to dine in additional restaurants, however, whilst the food is of a good quality it is limited and doesn't allow much for dietary requirements, even asking for an omelette around 10:30am when they are serving until 11am was too much for them! In contrast, the adults only sections of the Royal Level was fantastic, quality surroundings, food and entertainment - just a shame the family level did not live up to the same. I understand the Royal Level family area is about to undergo much needed renovations so be wary is booking from now until they are complete as there may be disruptions. Cleaning leaves much to be desired around parts of the resort (sports bar and marina area in particular)

Where do I start… me and my family have just returned from our third successive year visiting this beautiful resort. From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the welcoming staff went out of their way to make this a special holiday you won’t forget. The hotel rooms are immaculate, we stayed in the Royal Level family area where we had a spacious apartment style room with a sea view. The friendly lady who greeted us at reception was very helpful on checking us in and advising which restaurants, bars and activities were included within the ‘all inclusive’ package, as this is a large complex and there are many to choose from. On arrival we headed to the ‘La Perlita’ beach side cafe/restaurant where we had pizzas as a mid afternoon snack - very tasty. There was a wide variety to choose from on this menu, as well as a gelato bar for the ice cream lovers. Our favourite restaurant (where we ate at every day) was the Terra Sana for breakfast, dinner and tea. Breakfast was delicious with everything you could possibly want from the buffet, as well as omelettes and sandwiches that could be specifically requested and delivered to the table. Tea, coffee and juice orders were also taken on arrival and brought to the table. For lunch there was the option to order from the menu (which included all 3 courses if desired) with an abundance of choices including burgers, sandwiches, salads, fresh fish etc. However, we mostly opted once again for the buffet as there were always plentiful options and we didn’t want to miss out!! For the evening buffet there was a different theme each night - including Canarian, Mexican, Asian etc and every evening there was something new and exciting to be discovered within this delicious restaurant buffet, something to please everyone. This is truly the best food I’ve ever had, and I would like to shout out all the wonderful staff including the chefs as well as the super friendly waiters and waitresses who went above and beyond to provide everything so efficiently and always with a smile. On our last evening I was presented with the most beautiful drink, recommended to me by one of the kind waitresses. We opted to eat at the Italian speciality restaurant one evening where we enjoyed a 3 course set menu, lovely food and plenty of freedom within the set menu to opt for whichever pizza/pasta dish you wanted. There are other speciality restaurants available to book, including a Mexican and Brazilian which we didn’t try during our stay. During the day we took part in some of the hotel entertainment activities including cocktail making and an Aloe Vera workshop - thank you to James for being such an affable host and getting everyone involved, it was really fun to do something different during our stay. We would also enjoy a mid morning coffee in the ‘La Goleta’ cafe/bar as this was located near to the Royal Level Family area - where our room was located. I would particularly recommend the ‘frappe’ which was a cool and refreshing coffee drink,

We had a lovely relaxing holiday here. It is situated right next to the large sandy beach and the Barceló hotels range around most of the bay. It is a very large area. Food wise the breakfasts were the very best. Lunch buffets were varied and there was also a snack menu available from 1pm. Evening meals could be taken in a variety of restaurants some of which needed to be booked in advance although we found the app was not reliable. The ice-cream venue Le Perla was being refreshed and only opened 1st May. We did have ice lollies and ice cream available from the bar and restaurants. The selection of drinks and especially the variety of expertly made cocktails were amongst the best we have had on our travels, including cruises. The sun terrace was large and there was never a problem with getting a sun lounger. The pool was a good size for swimming lengths and had partly submerged loungers to relax on. It does not have a shallow end and makes water aerobics difficult for petite people! The bungalow style accommodation was comfortable and our pet ants were swiftly dispatched! Our view from the terrace was of the pool and the sea beyond. It did lack a few extras that you would expect for this level of hotel eg tissues. Also tins of water were given daily and it may benefit the hotel to look at different ways of giving guests fresh drinking water which we have seen available at other hotels, using refills from dispensers. The other guests were friendly as were all the staff. The whole adult area was kept spotless and the cacti and planting throughout the hotel grounds was beautiful and very well maintained. Any issues we had were sorted immediately by using the App. Evening entertainment was ok. Rather dated and middle of the road. I felt there should be something more up to date. We heard several repeats of songs. The pool bar in the evenings had a great atmosphere and due to cold evening breezes had heaters and blankets available. However when the new bar was opened on 1st May it seemed to lack atmosphere; the stage was sited so that it was difficult to see the acts- it needs lighting. Presumably this can be sorted as I’m sure it was just teething problems. The low hanging lights were swinging in the breeze and the waiters were having to swerve out of the way. The new bar area is very open to the elements and needs better heating. A few tiny improvements to the food labelling is required so that better informed choices can be made and that includes desserts It would be appreciated. Thank you to all Staff. You are a credit to the hotel and the level of hospitality is excellent. I hope we will return.

Just back from a week at the Royal adult-only section of this hotel. First impressions were very good - very clean and well maintained through with very friendly and helpful staff. Thought we'd not get to know our way around but soon found our way through the sprawling resort. porters helped deliver us, complete with baggage on arrival, after a short transfer from the airport. Had a one bedroom bungalow fairly near to the pool and shared with a friend. I used the sofa bed which was surprising comfortable. Water provided every day and room cleaned almost every day. Coffee machine and fridge provided in the room and a nightly turn down and chocolate provided. Information is not always easy to find, i.e. not clear whether the fridge items are chargeable or not and there was some confusion re planning activities such as the weekly mixology class or day trips. For the mixology, we were eferred to the reception to book and then told to book at the bar, who told us to book in reception! We were half board and the breakfast buffet is very good, Masses of choice, both hate and cold and including fresh fruit, salad, etc as well as freshly prepared omelettes etc, and there was a good array of gluten free options if required. The orange juice is amazing but coffee offerings were limited but other options are available. The water was bottled, The evening buffet is themed but there seemed to be small differences in the offerings to be honest. I would also have preferred to have my food hotter and freshly as several days, the hot options were lukewarm and the seafood was over-cooked. There was always plenty of salads, breads, fruit and desserts on offer and ice cream or sorbet can be requested. Water was, however, chargeable at this meal, which is disappointing. I would have enjoyed more traditional tapas options and there was a dearth of chicken surprisingly. Evening entertainment was quite good with a variety of music genres on offer, including a 70s rock night. The bar was busy with plenty of comfy chairs and couches, and the patio heaters were lit when it cooled. The pool area is lovely and very clean but the depth is the same for the whole pool. This is great for swimming but made it a struggle for the aqua aerobics as it's 1.40m deep and I am only 1.55 m tall! There was no difficulty in getting loungers around the pool during the week we were there, even though some people were obviously reserving beds from early morning.

We had a fantastic cocktail-making class with Kristian at the Barceló—highly entertaining from start to finish! He made the whole experience fun, engaging, and easy to follow, while also sharing plenty of tips and techniques. I learned a lot and picked up some great skills to use at home. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun and interactive experience!

Kriss provided the ingredients and entertainingly helped us to produce our own Barcelo Martini. I don’t usually drink gin but this cocktail ended in a refreshingly delightful surprise for my tastebuds! Thank you Kris for your entertaining presentation.
