The Castle Bar Room Only

Guess we should have realised from the price. This is well located but very basic. The bar below is a noisy club. We didn't mind that, but others might. The room was clean but very basic. Bathroom and toilets shared down a flight of stairs. The staff were lovely.

Its not the ritz but it was nice and clean staff were nice and it's in a good location. Its cheap and cheerful and does the job.

The Castle used to be great for pub grub. Tonight I ordered the classic burger. It came on a tiny plate with no chips. They are extra. I have never had a burger that did not come with chips. The waitress seemed embarrassed and quickly bought a smallish portion of chips and charged us £3. My husband’s fish did come with chips but did not have the side of peas or coleslaw. No apology or reduction in price I don’t know what has happened recently but the place now lacks atmosphere.

This is a very old hostel in an excellent location right in the centre of Cambridge. It depends what you are looking for. The hosts were very friendly and helpful; they just aren't on site all day and had to be contacted by phone at times. The hostel rooms are in a maze of hallways above a pub, with lots of doors and turns that you have to remember to find your way up through the building to your room. That adds historical interest but is not great for convenience and fire safety. The hostel room itself was very old with carpets worn and stained, not a great experience. The shared bathrooms were recently renovated and looked great.

wouldn't recommend Run-down rabbit warren. Felt like a fire hazard Good location, though.

Excellent B&B option if you are visiting University of Cambridge.
