Whenever I'm on a business trip to this city, this is always my first choice for accommodation. It's really great.

The hotel is located in a relatively safe area, about a 20-minute walk from the Waterfront. For the quality of the rooms, I believe the price is too high. The breakfasts are delicious and à la carte (partially buffet style). The staff is friendly, and there's a restaurant downstairs. Don't rely on the pool; it's small and dirty, but it does offer an excellent view of Table Mountain :)

The location is perfect, just right across CTICC. Reasonable price with great quality of stay. Suitable for family and a group of friends.

Overall an alright stay at the Onyx during our 5 day trip to Cape Town. Enjoyed the breakfast, had a comfortable sleep, used the self-service laundry (quite a hassle, because it is accessible via the parking in what felt like the other building) and availed the free parking in 1 of 3 levels! Felt safe in and around the hotel, not that we went walking late at night, but it seemed quite safe. A few of the reception staff could benefit from some training to be a bit more responsive. We were first allocated a room with a tiny bathroom and to request a room with a better layout was quite a challenge, with the reception lady's poor responsiveness. Shifted to a much better, but smaller room with a bigger better bathroom. Housekeeping takes forever to deliver water bottles to the room, sometimes even forgets requests altogether.

This hotel is absolutely not worth the money. The location is poor, there's nothing much around, and homeless people are sleeping right at the hotel entrance. They upgraded my room, but I had originally paid for a mountain view, and they gave me a view of the neighboring building instead. The breakfasts are completely unappetizing, there are flies everywhere, and the waiters demand tips. There are some kind of gnats or mosquitoes in the room that bit everyone, and we've been unpleasantly itchy for several days. We checked out a day early because our flight was rescheduled due to the situation in the Middle East, but no one is refunding us for that night, and the reception wouldn't even discuss it. The only positive is the underground parking. I don't recommend it, as there are better hotels available for a lower price and closer to the waterfront.

Do not book here -the customer service is unacceptable. I reserved a room for my parents at The Onyx Apartment Hotel in Cape Town and emailed a month in advance to confirm whether breakfast was included in the rate. A representative, Belinda Visser, responded and assured me that all their rates include breakfast. However, when my parents arrived, they were abruptly told that breakfast was not included. The on-site manager was dismissive and made my father feel as though he simply wanted him to leave. There was no acknowledgment of their staff’s mistake, no apology, and no attempt at compensation. They repeatedly insisted that the booking showed “room only,” refusing to take any responsibility for the misinformation provided by their own employee. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. Be aware of the way they treat their guests and their lack of accountability.

Really enjoyed our stay. The room was a good size, clean, tidy and serviced daily. Staff were friendly and attended to all our needs. Lovely bar area and YU restaurant was sublime, well worth visiting.

Staff were very friendly. The room was comfy, but not the cleanest & things were painted over to seem new. However, it was clear the hotel is in need of some TLC. Overall, it was okay for a short stay. I don't think I could've stayed there longer than a day or two.

Decent location about a 15 minutes walk to the V&A. Nice sized apartment and good onsite facilities including gym, restaurant, coffee shop, pool. Helpful front desk. Comfortable beds. No in-room adaptors.
