Sadly, we were disappointed due to the heightened expectations both from an article we read stating this to be among the 10 best hotels in the Cape Town area and the reviews. There were many good points, as well as some disappointing elements, that are non-negotiable for a higher priced ‘luxury accommodation’ (as advertised on their website) for which we paid over 3700 Rand per night. Some might be minor but in conjunction with each other they start to matter. Let’s start with the good things: Pros - stunning view: across to Cape Town and table mountain, but make sure to be on the second floor towards the sea otherwise the sand dunes will be in your way - Very friendly staff on arrival as well as on breakfast duty (Kuda) - Clean, nice decor - Very comfortable bed linen and big enough shower towels Cons - Bed: I have never stayed in what they advertise on their website as a ‘luxury hotel’ in a ‘superior deluxe king’ size room where the mattress does not measure 2 m in length! This meant that both my husband’s and my feet were dangling off the end of the bed and when the bedspread pulls down on the toes this becomes extremely uncomfortable - Balcony: the balcony of room 202 is very small and can definitely not be used with two chairs - Window: the window of room 202 towards the table mountain also serves as balcony for room 201 which means as they stand on the balcony they can look inside straight onto the bed, which means no privacy - Pre-used slippers (which I doubt the guest would put back in the plastic wrapper) - The whole restaurant, bar and lounge area was smelling strongly of cooking smells, even in the afternoon when there was no one cooking in the kitchen - Lastly, having to wait for more than one hour for 2 deserts without any mention of waiting time is too much. To be aware of: - Best views, for the sunset is on the rooftop, but bring some thing because winds are extremely strong - If you take a room on ground floor to sand dunes covered the view and patio is connected to the rooms right and left - When we were there, there was only one chef in the kitchen and this made waiting times extremely long
