I want to say thank you and give a huge amount of credit to the staff at the front desk. The hotel's computer system had been crashed and would not work, so the front lobby staff had to walk each guest -- one by one -- to their rooms. The system couldn't check anyone in, and it couldn't issue keys. We could not connect to wifi, because they couldn't check us in, and we couldn't enter our name and room number. The staff, despite this, did an outstanding job rallying under ridiculous circumstances.
But to that point, I was at the front desk on Thursday when the staff was trying to get help from whoever was working on the computers and the answers they were getting from tech support were completely unacceptable.
The result was the guests and staff suffered.
As a guest, being walked to your room is a solution, but it's not anywhere near to an ideal solution. It makes coming and going very difficult. You can't just "run downstairs," or "run out to the car" without having to wait for, and further inconvenience an already overworked and stressed out staff. You sort of felt like a prisoner in your own room, or you had to prop the door so it wouldn't lock to get back in and out quickly. Heck, you couldn't even go down the hall to get ice.
Overall, I credit the staff, but the the stay was sort of awful as a result.
