Riva Del Sole Resort & Spa

We just loved the place! We had rented an apartment for 4 Adults and 2 kids and stayed for one week! We got one of the newly renovated Appartements at the end of the resort which was great as it was very quite and close to the beach! Only downside was the long way to he Spa and main buildings. We swam every morning in the pool and spent the day at the wonderful beach! Staff was very friendly and food in the restaurant very decent!

I have been there with friends and it has been fantastic. Good food at the restaurant, sandy beaches, cocktail bars and lot of fun with the locals. I have alteady booked my holidays for the next year.

Was a nice stay but the food at the resort is below average, especially for a stay in Italy. The average age of the guests is over 75 and as a young family we felt a bit uncomfortable. The beach is super nice but for a four star hotel I missed any food or drink service on the beach and not just fresh towels every 2 days.

The place is beautiful, and the hotel is comfortable. Except for some minor problems, immediately addressed by the staff, the rooms are quite clean. The staff is kind and careful. The problems come with the administration and its attitude, which can be summarized as "let's get the most out of every client." In sum: 1) I read Manager's reply to the clients' complaints about the high prices of very standard products. He always makes the same point: you pay for the quality of our raw materials. Whether this may be true or debatable with the dinners and cooked food (frozen pasta served at the pizzeria may well be an incident), I am at a loss to understand how this can be true for standard water (4 euros per bottle at the beach bar) soft drinks, or frozen pizza again at the bar. 2) I have never been to a proper resort, paid as such, with tennis courts that must be paid as an extra. The worst thing is that these two courts are literally destroyed. They could have been acceptable 20 years ago, maybe. 3) Even worse, we were supposed to stay from August 10 to August 21. We extended the performance for two extra days as rooms were available. They charge us 95 euros more per day. Lovely.

Our second visit and just as great as before. Riva del Sole is on a long private beach of about 500 metres. It is well equipped with sun beds and umbrellas. Lots of life guards too! Rooms in the hotel are spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Two good restaurants and bars. The hotel’s biggest asset is its staff. It’s is also close to the town should you wish to explore more restaurants. See you again.

If you want a care free vacation experience, this is not the place. I write this as I’m still here and as a professional in the travel industry I am quite shocked. First, (and not the reason why I am writing this review) I reserved a Classic Room and a Riva Room. The Riva room should be 30% bigger, it is not. The only difference between my two rooms is the Riva room has a small walk in closet, I had no intention of spending an extra 150€/ night for a closet!! Second, if you want to spend your time worrying about towels then this is the place. Went to the beach and got towels. When we left the beach was told we can leave the towels on the chairs. Went to the pool and they wouldn’t give us new towels, as we were told the towels we received at the beach were the same towels we were entitled to for the pool, and that we should talk to the front desk manager. After speaking to the front desk manager I was told I have to stay with the same towels !! Furthermore I was told read the fine print in the towel card, guest are only allowed to change towels 2 times a week. How absurd for a resort! As a travel professional who owns an agency I can tell you, guest do not want to be worried about towels and be schlepping towels around while on vacation. I will not be recommending this hotel to clients and am writing this to advise you the reader as well. Unfortunately, after reading some of the other reviews here on TripAdvisor (and the hotels responses), it appears the hotel refuses to learn from guest feedback (and only makes excuses for their behavior), as it seems I am not the only guest with this sort of experience.

A lovely resort for a family vacation! We went there with our two boys and they really liked the kids club and the beautiful beach. The staff was very friendly and service minded. We had a dinner package at The Palm and the food was excellent. The rooms was a bit small but functioning, really nice cleaned every day and the beds and pillows was top class. We will definitely go back!

Seven of us stayed at Riva del Sole, some of us for two week. It was a wonderful time for all ages, with walks along the beach and in the pine woods, swimming, entertainment for kids, and friendly, competent staff. The surprising variety of very good food at La Palma Restaurant was a welcome bonus when we chose to eat there. The second restaurant and the beach café were handy for a quick bite to eat, and the shops were a good option for beach gear and more, We explored the town and beyond. I arrived exhausted and left relaxed, reenergized, and thankful for our stay.
