Review of Old Town Bardakčije 5 Design Apartments
PROS:
1. The apartment is clean and tidy. The bed linens, towels, and floors were clean.
2. Convenient layout: living room and two separate bedrooms.
3. Comfortable beds and pillows, with an extra blanket.
4. TV with Netflix and YouTube.
5. Internet worked well.
6. The apartment is located in a green and quiet area, with a pleasant view of the trees. Opposite the entrance, there's a small terrace with a table and chairs.
7. The living room has air conditioning; in May, it was sufficient for the apartment.
8. Convenient self-service check-in.
9. Everything you need is nearby: a bakery, pizzeria, grocery store, and bus stop.
10. The area is quiet, safe, and atmospheric, more "local" than touristy.
CONS:
1. The apartment is significantly smaller in real life than it looks in the photos.
2. The main drawback was the broken blinds in the living room. We chose this place specifically because of the large panoramic window and the view. The blinds were broken and covered part of the window, which meant:
- almost no light entered the apartment
- it was impossible to enjoy the view
- the room was poorly ventilated and quickly became hot.
We reported the problem to the owner, but it was never resolved during our stay. We were told they would address it after we moved out.
3. The bathroom had minimal amenities: just two rolls of toilet paper and two shampoo bottles, one of which was empty. There wasn't even hand soap.
4. The kitchen was poorly equipped for cooking. The only utensils were the basics, including one old frying pan without a lid. There was no cutting board, spatula, or proper kitchen knife—only a bread knife. When we asked for a regular knife, the owner said he needed to "look for it."
5. The kitchen faucet was broken and wobbled wildly. Using the sink was awkward.
6. The poorly equipped kitchen made it difficult to cook properly, even though the kitchen was one of the reasons we chose this apartment.
7. The city center is about a 15-minute walk away, but the road goes uphill. This wasn't a problem for us, but it might be difficult for others.
Overall, the stay wasn't terrible—we were comfortable sleeping and relaxing, and the neighborhood was really nice. However, many things didn't meet our expectations. We chose this place because of the beautiful window and the ability to cook at home, but in the end, we didn't get a decent view, enough light, or comfortable cooking conditions.
We understand that appliances and other things can break, but when we reported problems, we were told, "Sorry, we can't fix anything right now." The accommodation isn't free, though, and I'd prefer basic issues to be addressed during your stay, not after you move out. Personally, I wouldn't choose this accommodation again.
