Ljubljana Capsule Hostel

My stay at this capsule hotel was extremely disappointing and honestly ended up ruining a large part of my trip. When I first arrived, I was given a room where the door would not lock properly. I reported it right away, but it took a long time for the host to respond and move me to another room. Unfortunately, the new room turned out to have bedbugs. I woke up covered in multiple bites and even found a bedbug in my bed the next morning. This created a very stressful situation during what was supposed to be my vacation. I had to spend time going to pharmacies for treatment and repeatedly visiting laundromats to wash and isolate my belongings to avoid bringing bedbugs home. The bites were extremely itchy and uncomfortable, and the whole experience caused a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. What made the situation even more frustrating was the host’s lack of response. I contacted them immediately after discovering the bedbug and sent a photo as evidence, but they did not respond promptly or handle the issue responsibly. A bedbug issue is a serious health and hygiene concern, and I expected much better communication and accountability. Unfortunately in, this experience fell far below an acceptable standard, and I would strongly advise future guests to be cautious.

Warning: Bedbugs! Do not book this hostel. It is not clean, infested with bedbugs and if you have an issue, you will not be able to reach anyone and get help. This is the worst experience we've ever had. After check-in we lay down for an afternoon nap, and after a while I noticed the bedbugs. We had already been bitten by that time and my bites still itch over a week later. I immediately called the provided number but it didn't even ring (number currently unavailable), so I wrote into the *********** chat, no reply either. We left the hostel and had to book a room somewhere else. The next day I texted the number on WhatsApp, and over 24 h later and multiple unanswered calls we finally got a response that we would get a refund. To this day (8 day later), I have not received a refund, nor a confirmation via email that it was underway or any further replys to my inquiries. This is a nightmare. Fingers crossed that we didn't bring any bugs back home.

The common area and bathrooms are regularly cleaned. The location is close to the station and bus stop. A 15-20 minute walk will take you to all tourist spots in the city. The capsules can get really hot in summer. Had to keep the I’d door open to let cool air flow in from the air conditioning in the common area.

I would love to leave a proper review for this place but given that it was closed when I arrived and nobody bothered to inform me I can't. On arrival I was met by workmen who advised that the hotel was 'closed for refurbishment' and that I should have been told in advance. I wasn't. I managed to book somewhere else and on contacting the owner to request a refund he/she then offered me an alternative despite me already advising that I had booked elsewhere on being told by the workmen that the Capsule Hotel was closed. There has been no sign of my refund. This may well be a decent place when open, I'll never know. Based on a lack of proper communication and my own experience this isn't somewhere I would be recommending.

Please don’t advertise having air conditioning when it’s only in the lobby, not the individual capsules. Felt like I was in a sauna in the capsule, which was unbearable in the summer heat, and was literally hotter than outside. Had to leave the door open to get some air during the night, which ruined the privacy. Otherwise, if this issue was fixed, would have been a nice stay given the location and amenities.

Very nice and clean place! Capsule can get a little hot during the night, otherwise you have a clean, private environment. Bathroom is very clean!

I wasn't sure what to expect going to Ljubljana, but wanted to stay a few days. I saw the capsul hostel and booked 3 nights. It was close to the train and bus station. Has a little store just next to the garage. When you arrive, you use the provided code to open the door. There are doors marked 0 to 3. Each door leads to the different numbered capsules so you just find the right door and once inside you have clearly marked capsules and lockers. All the capsule rooms are connected as the bathroom with showers are together. The same code opens your locker and capsule. Inside the capsule i had was a tv, headphones, three light switches, power outlet. The bed was made up and you have towels and a towel you can use to stand on exiting the shower. It was clean and i really appreciated the staff. I highly recommend a stay.

Summary: Pros - • in essence, the idea of staying in a capsule was very cool. The capsule was modern, had a Tv, the bed was very comfy, and it was well ventilated. • the capsule + bathroom area was immaculately clean when me and my partner visited - we saw the cleaners every morning. • Very good location, only about a 15 min walk from the main area, and only 5 mins from the train / bus station which was very convenient. • Check-in was fairly easy and the lockers were very good. I felt my stuff was safe in them Cons - • me and my partner are from the UK and therefore we need an adaptor to charge our phones. There was only one socket hole, there were two usb ports but they were too close to the socket hole, which meant we couldn’t plug in the socket hole and use the usb ports at the same time. • The capsules were very loud, other people moving about could be heard quite easily. But I think it partly comes the people you are in a room with. Some were quiet and respectful, others didn’t care. • There isn’t a kitchen, we knew this already but we still think it would’ve made the experience a little better (and cheaper!) Overall, it was a really nice experience, but we felt the cost of the capsule was too much for what we got.
