my husband and i visited in feb for lunch we had stakes with pepper corn sauce, everything was totally fabulous, we had previously shared a cheese board and loved the cheeses so we did this again! today we visited with my mum for sunday lunch, it was absolutely outstanding. we also gad deserts, lemon cheese cake and creamer brûlée and cheese board, all were fabulous. on both occasions the food and service was fabulous. well worth the hour drive thank you.

Excellent visit we were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. In particular Adam who went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. Nothing was too much trouble. Adam and his staff are friendly professional courteous and made our stay perfect. The location and value for money is superb. The rooms are tastefully decorated and clean and comfortably. Breakfast was freshly made and beautifully presented with a good choice on the menu, along with a buffet option. Dinner in the evening was again excellent with a good selection of local produce. The ambience of the Three Crowns is every thing you’d expect on a cold January day with log fires and cosy seating. Thank you for making my birthday weekend a real treat.

We have stayed at this hotel in the past a few times including New Year 2022/23 for a three day break and decided we would stay for their three day Christmas break with our furry friend. The "doggy" rooms are large and in the courtyard which is ideal. The staff were superb (as ever) . But, the food was the highlight of the stay. Excellent and the best Roast potatoes with Christmas lunch that I have ever had in a restaurant. Ewan and Adam were helpful, efficient and pleasant as were the other waiting staff. It was also nice to see the owner there working pretty hard. Must mention the hardworking housekeeping staff. Maybe that was the only little ****** that bath gel, soap, etc was not replenished over the three nights. All in all, a wonderful Christmas. Thank you everyone at the Three Crowns.

Family lunch on Boxing Day. Very efficient and attentive staff. Good food. Good beer. Good value. We were there for three hours. Only major downside was the awful canned music. Really bad cover version after really bad cover version. When it's no more expensive to play good music, it's not just grating on the nerves, it's frustrating too. The sound of conversation in an old pub is always the ideal but if your business and customers demand music, at least show some taste.

We had a fantastic 3 day’s stay over Christmas: the staff were wonderful, and the food was exquisite. This hotel has 13th century features and was decorated beautifully with Christmas cheer and an always helpful and smiling staff team. There was a murder mystery evening arranged for Boxing Day which was also lot of fun. There was always a roaring fire and lots of good cheer. I would recommend this hotel at any time of year, but as a Christmas stay it was extra special.

Came to the Three Crowns for Boxing Day lunch. Food was fantastic and service was excellent (Courtney, Scott and Adam). Only downside was the music which was out of keeping for the lovely environment and frankly painful to listen to - who needs terrible electronic covers of otherwise great tracks? Silence would be preferable.

We'd been for a meal in the restaurant a couple of years ago and decided to take up a pre-Christmas offer of dinner, bed and breakfast. Every staff member was friendly, the ambience in the bars and restaurant was warm and welcoming and the dinner menu wide and reasonably priced. Both our evening meals were well-cooked and presented with a great choice of wines available. Our server on both evenings was David - an experienced 'old hand' in the hospitality business, efficient and light-hearted. We had a standard double room, cosy and with adequate space for our short stay. All-in-all, it was a great experience at reasonable cost. Chagford's a thriving village nestling in the beautiful folded edges of Dartmoor and within easy reach of Exeter along the A30. Walks abound both in the immediate area and within easy reach by car. We'd thoroughly recommend as visit to this well-run and unpretentious hotel.

This evening we called in for a drink and waited and waited and waited whilst the manager saw us at the bar but ignored our presence and was too interested talking with a female member of staff. We were the only ones waiting to be served.When we finally complained we were not served The manager said should come up to the reception desk where the restaurant orders were held even though he saw us at the bar.We replied that sometimes we had booked to have a meal but tonight we just wanted a drink. Surely if you see a customer waiting at the bar (and they saw us waiting) you move to serve them. We were disappointed they were apathetic ,disinterested and obviously regarded us as a nuisance. No apology was given. We then visited the Globe Inn next door in Chagford where we were welcomed with a friendly smile with civility, good manners and respect. A total contrast to the THREE CROWNS staff!!!!

Great location, lovely hotel, rooms were very clean with crisp white bedding and fluffy towels, nice hospitality tray. We had the DB&B deal which was excellent, the food was well cooked and delicious. All the staff we met were friendly, efficient and accommodating. Lovely walks from the hotel, the village is very picturesque, would definitely stay there again if looking for a short break in the area.
