Homeinn Selected Hotel (Chaozhou Ancient City Paifang Street)

True to its name, this Paifang Street branch boasts an unbeatable location. You can easily walk to Kaiyuan Temple, Paifang Street, and Guangji Bridge. Plus, there's a KFC right next door and countless restaurants around, so you'll have no trouble trying all sorts of Chaozhou snacks. The breakfast was high-quality, and freshly ground coffee was available at all times. The bedding was clean and comfortable. A thoroughly satisfying stay!

The room on the sixth floor was quiet. However, the so-called standalone wardrobe was incredibly thin, less than 35 centimeters deep. The front desk service was lukewarm at best. The worst part was that only one elevator was working. When it was busy, the wait time was just too long.

The location is excellent and convenient, within walking distance to popular attractions. The bedding in the room was comfortable and clean, though the room corners could use a more thorough cleaning. The smell in the room and hallway was a bit unpleasant; I recommend adding some air fresheners to improve it. The cleaning staff were all very nice.

The only upside is its proximity to the scenic area. Chaozhou Paifang Street has plenty of delicious food, and the evening views of the scenic area are the best, especially the illuminated Guangji Bridge. I personally found Liu Bu Braised Goose to be an amazing experience. However, the goose intestines, goose liver, and goose wings were a bit underwhelming; I don't think they're as good as the ones in Shantou. The Shibagu Fish Dumplings are also pretty good 👍. After 10 PM, there's a small alley off Paifang Street with a street vendor selling incredibly tasty grilled beef skewers.

This hotel is in an excellent location, right by the ancient city. Turn left out of the hotel and you're on Kaiyuan Road, which is lined with tons of restaurants offering a fantastic variety of delicious food. It's also very close to Kaiyuan Temple and other ancient city attractions. The hotel itself is very clean, and there's free coffee available in the lobby. The service was also great; a friend in our group left their phone on a sofa in the hotel when we checked out, and the staff were kind enough to mail it back to Shanghai for us. It was a wonderful trip!

The location is fantastic, with plenty of dining options nearby, and it's a short walk to Kaiyuan Temple and Xima Road. If you don't look too closely, the room cleaning is acceptable, but there are some old, stubborn stains. The hallway carpet really needs a good cleaning; it's extremely dirty. The hotel's overall structure is quite compact, and the rooms aren't very spacious, but they're adequate. The soundproofing is average, so light sleepers might need earplugs. Overall, for an off-peak rate of around 200 yuan per night, the value for money is decent.
