There was an issue with my original room booking, but customer service proactively called to offer a room upgrade, which was great! The guesthouse is also in an excellent location – central yet peaceful.

Close to the ancient city, convenient for getting around, but parking is a hassle.

Although I gave it a five-star rating, my overall stay was a mixed bag. I hope my objective review can provide suggestions to both the establishment and other consumers. First, the good points: 1. The butler service was undoubtedly thoughtful. The three butlers were professional and dedicated, promptly resolving any issues guests had. 2. The guesthouse's location is excellent. The owner is clearly an artistic and visionary individual who invested significantly in creating a boutique guesthouse. The furniture, decor, bedding, and tea sets all show careful consideration. Next, the mixed points: The entire place was quite damp, and there were many mosquitoes. However, this might be due to the climate and the open courtyard environment. Finally, some suggestions: 1. The design is too idealistic and doesn't sufficiently consider the practical use of space. The tea room in the corner unit, for example, is not very efficient, and the bedroom and bathroom areas are too cramped (this is a consistent issue in all corner units and the main house units, though the main house is slightly better). 2. The price difference between the corner units and the main house units is too significant. It might be worth considering narrowing this gap. I also suggest uploading floor plans for each room type when advertising. This would prevent customers from making decisions based solely on pictures without understanding the size or privacy, which could lead to dissatisfaction for those who prioritize these aspects. 3. Consider offering a courtyard package (main house + side rooms combined). This could be a unique selling point, attracting groups traveling together.

The hotel is a renovated old building, so the rooms are a bit small. The outlets in one room were a bit inconvenient. I'd suggest they wipe down the tables and chairs before guests check in. The location within the ancient city is decent, and there's a tea table which is nice for tea lovers. Overall, the value for money is just average.

The bedroom plus the tea room facing the courtyard felt really nice.

The location is excellent, right in Chaozhou Ancient City, and you can walk to many popular restaurants nearby. However, if you want to go to other places outside the ancient city, you'll need to walk about ten minutes to the area outside Chengnan Primary School to catch a taxi. The room layout at Meishi Zhai East Courtyard is great for friends traveling together, but the living room is too dark. It only has one white ceiling light, and the windows are small and high, which makes the room feel even darker and more sterile. I suggest improving the lighting in the living room (tea room). The toiletries in the bathroom didn't include conditioner, and the bathroom lighting was also dim. The glass cups for brushing teeth didn't feel very clean. Since we arrived early in the morning and the room wasn't ready yet, the auntie kindly helped us store our luggage in an adjacent room. However, the East Courtyard is quite a distance from the actual front desk, so storing luggage or anything else requires a bit of a walk. The tea room was equipped with Nongfu Spring bottled water and an open, air-exposed barrel of water. When we initially asked the front desk for water, they suggested we could drink the barrel water. I recommend not leaving an open barrel of water; bottled water is safer. Ultimately, the butler did bring us bottled mineral water, which we appreciated. The tea sets in the tea room were quite comprehensive, and they even provided two packets of tea, which was a nice touch. Considering we were staying in the ancient city, the sounds of traffic and some construction from neighboring buildings are understandable. Overall, the experience was average, neither good nor bad.

Traveling with the whole family, choosing this renovated old house with three bedrooms, one living room, and a courtyard was absolutely perfect. The courtyard is located in Dashishi Lane, Paifang Street, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the ancient city. You truly feel the history and its lasting charm while wandering around, eating, and having a blast. The service at the courtyard was also quite thoughtful and warm, including pre-arrival notifications, help with luggage, and welcome fruits. Their responses were very prompt too. Breakfast was warm rice noodle rolls, and even though it was simple, it was authentic and delicious. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience old city life!
