Hotel Emeline

We had a wonderful stay at Christmas time. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Check in was easy, we were offered a$20 upgrade for our room, which we accepted and we enjoyed our 3 nights in a suite- lovely! The courtyard was also decorated and the outdoor fireplace was always blazing. We liked having a glass of wine in the evening. We also loved “The Den” bar! The pizza was yummy! Such a cool experience- we will definitely stay here next time we are in Charleston!

We were there to check out College of Charleston and it was perfect. Great location, great service, great recommendations to restaurants and more. Just a lovely experience.

Location was great, rooms were big, hotel was beautiful.  The rooms were a little dark but overall experience was good!  Love the location!  And valet staff was excellent!

Hotel great was great other than our room  - room 135, unbelievable noise. One wall is shared with back of a bar. Constant noises from bottles being moved, jarred, barstools scraping across the floor. Outside/courtyard wall has restaurant and one evening, a jazz band (you can’t make this stuff up) which was all of four feet from our window.

Room was exceptionally small. Poor privacy-we could hear the guests in the room next to us. No hot water in the shower-guess if you like waking up with frigid water then you’re in luck! The only friendly people were our waiter and barista. Front desk person was very rude and the hostess at the restaurant clearly hates her job! We vacation to Charleston usually twice per year-first time staying at this hotel. Convenience to everything downtown is great, but wish the hotel stay would have been nicer.

Great location, friendly helpful staff, nice room, pleasant courtyard. Breakfast at restaurant hotel was poor, basic and cold food. Overall liked Emeline very much and would definitely stay there again.

Hotel suite decor was dingy. Absolutely no privacy as I opened 104 suite door into main concourse for the hotel. Open door or downstairs window curtain to find guests at hotel restaurant or patio staring right back at you. Outdated carpets and furniture. Cramped into two room split level suite with almost no direct sunlight through two small windows. Bed spread and linens, comforter were rather cheap quality. For me to use 2nd sofa bed, I had to move faux marble coffee table. Just two pillows (without cases) and a sheet for it. Despite high end cost of stay, ($2900 for 3 nights!) none of the three wine bottles placed in room were complimentary $25 ea. Lots of emphasis on booze in decor and amenities and the staff’s approach to defusing tension and stress w guests check-in is to randomly offer you a rum punch when you check in. On positive note, valet service was excellent. Overall a total bust except for the Charleston southern “whiskey gentry” that seem to love the place.
