The Gamekeeper

Met friends at the Gamekeeper pub for lunch. It is large and as we were the only ones there, totally lacking in atmosphere. I was told that they did not serve wine by the glass, only to find out later that this was not the case. Lunch menu was extensive however my selection was poor I chose liver, onions and mash. Masses of gravy for the liver with two tiny pieces of liver that constituted a mouthful at best. Thankfully no one ordered starters and we did not stay for dessert.

Came here two evenings on the trot as the food was wonderful. It was home from home felt totally relaxed and welcomed by everyone, the staff were excellent couldn't do enough for you and we even had a lot of banter which was really welcoming. I would recommend the Gamekeeper for a fabulous meal either in the place it's self or the take out Sunday Dinner which we ended up having as well.

This place has become a regular place for me and my partner to visit of a Sunday for the carvery this place is always consistent with good quality service and food the carvery are really big still ample servings and the atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly all staff go above or beyond even in a busy period to make your visit worthwhile staff friendly food abs amazing one again consistant in all the time we have been going there

First visit here this week with friends, great food not expensive. Friendly service. Proper home cooked pub food. The whole in is very tastefully decorated, we ate in the restaurant and then moved to the comfy chairs for a few drinks. They also have a stunning garden for the warmer weather.

We turned up on Christmas morning to pick up the keys for an overnight stay. We'd been uncontactable on the number we'd provided, so hadn't known they'd been impacted by a major flood and our room was unuseable. They were absolutely brilliant and made sure we had somewhere to stay that night, which totally saved our Christmas! Absolutely full marks for customer service!

There comes a time when your family and friends say " let's go for a carvery" so off we went tummies rumbling and ready to be filled. My friends suggested the Gamekeeper and I feel it was the best choice. Who could moan at a choice of 7 different meats and all the trimmings you could think of. A warm welcome is waiting for you from happy and friendly staff followed by a good choice of drinks at the bar. The restaurant is clean, fresh and well looked after(the same throughout the pub) then there is the huge garden area with a stream at the bottom. Beautiful surroundings to enjoy brilliant food in. Other meals are available and through the week so there is something for everyone. I can only recommend you try this lovely pub and have the same experience that we had. We will definitely go there again without any hesitation as it was that good. Enjoy!!!!!

Part of my stay I was on my own but I was made to feel very welcome straight away by both Sharon and Kim. It felt like home from home. My room was great and had everything I needed. The food was excellent, in particular the cooked breakfasts! I would definitely recommend staying, eating and drinking at this pub and i have already booked my next visit.
