Lovely hotel conveniently situated within 5 mins walking distance of Chatea d’oex village and train station. Room was clean and spacious with en suite toilet and shower. Comfortable bed and plenty of hanging and storage space. Continental breakfast had a good selection of cereal, meats, hot drinks, eggs and breads. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely stay again

Terrible food. No choice. No vegetables. If you didn’t like it , you didn’t eat. Like boarding school food. Bed made, but room not cleaned. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

I’m an a Travel Agent with nearly 40 years of experience & have to say I was a little apprehensive about this trip booked with Newmarket for the Montreux Christmas festival when I read some of the reviews about the hotel. However, we went with open minds & had the most amazing time. The hotel is a small but very beautiful wooden chalet type hotel. It has the most amazing views and is walkable up to the village past an excellent coop for anything you could want for your room. Shops are closed Monday & Tuesdays but cafes, restaurants and the coop are not. A local taxi is available for a 15swiss franc charge to take you up to the village if less able. The hotel is accessed via an open but covered very pretty & wonderfully decorated and throughout the hotel, with Christmas decorations and vintage skis, sledges etc walkway to the rooms from the reception. There are ground level rooms and others that lead off down other connected corridors and further up stairs to another couple of levels, those of you less able, there is no lift so ask in advance of travel for a ground/first floor room. The rooms are spotlessly clean & very warm, but you can always open a window! You do have WiFi which worked very well but bring some Swiss adapters, a travel kettle, cups and tea & coffee etc, you can grab some milk etc from the coop and keep it on your windowsill. The bathroom had a wonderful powerful with tons of hot water shower, it also had lots of soap and shampoo. If you want thick fluffy towels bring your own but they were fine. Through the small reception and there are loos just down some stairs and have a comfy waiting area, you enter the huge high ceiling dining room which has a bar in the corner and a fantastic outside seating area too. Our trip included breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast consisted of homemade breads and preserves, yoghurts, fruits, cold cheeses and meats, cereals, juices and a boiled egg maker that you just drop your required eggs into and set the time. Teas and coffees and juices. All very fresh and lovingly put together & constantly freshly refilled. The evening meal menu, posted in advance at reception gave you the chance of opting for a vegetarian option (give them notice) It consisted each night of 3 courses of homemade, served with fresh breads and jugs of water, some of the most wonderful food I’ve ever had. Very hearty but very healthy too & im a real foodie that loves my food! Every evening was something entirely different & they do cater for allergens. You can purchase drinks at the bar and bring to the table, including bottles of wine. By having the menu, you can also decide if you want to dine out but personally, the food was so exceptional, I really wouldn’t bother. I’d say there were around 50 folk staying there when we were there, all as part of the Newmarket group but had all come from different airports to join the tour but they catered very well and very efficiently. I would certainly return to this hotel and highly r

Having read other reviews I was a bit unsure but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were part of a Newmarket holidays group. The room was very big and spacious, everything was clean, admittedly the bed linen was a bit old and torn but it was clean, as was the room. The towels were replaced daily and bed made and there was plenty of shower ge/hair wash supplied. A long mirror would have been handy. It was very hot as other guest have mentioned but I took appropriate clothes and was fine. The staff were friendly. Food was tasty. All in all we were happy and would return.

The Hotel was our base for an escorted tour on the Golden pass train. What a wonderful location, our room was extremely spacious and wonderful views of the surrounding area. Exceptional restaurant staff very hard working,if there was a down side I'm afraid there wasn't a lot of choice in our evening meals. Our room was serviced every day and was spotless. Remember in Switzerland it's a different plug adapter not the usual European, we purchased ours before we went and took our travel kettle. These were available to loan from restaurant with a deposit which is returned at the end of the holiday. We went to many different experiences, Gueyer cheese factory, chocolate factory ,Interlaken, Bern,Montreux to name a few but our highlights were Glassier 3000 spectacular views especially over the bridge with excellent café. But the top of the list was The Golden pass train, wow from Chateau-D'oex to Interlaken one day then Chateau-D'oex to Montreux, the last journey the carriage was classed as Belle Epoqe.Another couple of tips in resort there is a local supermarket in town but don't forget you're in Switzerland so it's a 10 minute walk uphill depending on how you walk. Also the film star David Niven had a home there and is buried in the local Cemetery. Chateau-D'oex is renowned for hot air ballooning and the orbiter is in the town. All in all a spectacular Golden holiday

We were on a coach tour with Newmarket and this is the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. Basic rooms, no lift to upper floors, had to take our own luggage up 5 flights of stairs, and bring them down again on departure. No fridge in rooms, bed linen and towels were worn and cheap, pillow was flat and lumpy with no support. Food was awful, set menu each night with only a vegetarian option. Obviously chef was on a very tight budget. Breakfast was basic. The hotel had no amenities and nearest village was 20 minutes uphill walk away. The hotel had large garden but only about 10 chairs for more than 40 guests, same with the terrace outside dining room, not nearly enough seating and overlooking a car park.

We stayed here with Newmarket holidays last week It was a perfect, quiet location A perfect base for all of our day trips on the train or by coach to Gstaad Interlaken Gruyere Bern Fribourg Montreaux. The Glacier Our meals were lovely and staff helpful. Room was a spacious twin with a couch and tv. Hairdryer in the bathroom was ok. Plenty of storage in Room 102 with a fabulous view of the mountains. There's an amazing Olympic pool and restaurant about 10 minutes walk away which we went to on a hot day. I'd happily stay here again if I had the rooms on the top floor.
