"What a great hotel! Probably the most comfortable room in our two weeks in Sri Lanka. Very nice bed, good sheets and blanket, AC worked well, and the big bonus - a separate shower from the toilet with properly hot water. The property itself is also gorgeous. The room is small but has everything you need. Also, ours faced off the street so it was very quiet (save for some peacocks at night 😅). If I had to suggest an improvement, it'd be the breakfast. It was delicious (western) and plentiful but everything was coming out one thing at a time. So it would definitely be good to improve on efficiency. That said, great coffee - also not served everywhere."

"My trip to Sri Lanka staying at RIU Hotel was amazing. It was my first time booking an All-Inclusive package, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect—but overall, the experience exceeded my expectations. There were a few areas that could be improved. The food, for instance, felt a bit low in quality, with limited options for a healthy diet. The gym was quite small, with limited equipment, and it would be great if the opening hours were extended to accommodate more guests throughout the day. That said, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive and professional, always anticipating guests’ needs—especially in the buffet restaurants. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to try the à la carte restaurants as they were fully booked and very much in demand—something we weren’t aware of in advance. We’d definitely love to return once the monsoon season is over, as the weather wasn’t ideal during our stay. The beach, while beautiful, was unsafe for swimming at the time, which was a bit disappointing."

"Jetwing Lighthouse, part of the Heritage Hotels collection, was designed by the late, renowned Sri Lankan architect and 'father of Asian architecture,' Geoffrey Bawa. The anti-colonial sculpture in the atrium is quite striking. This time, I stayed in the hotel's largest 114-square-meter themed suite, which features several styles including Chinese, European, Arabian, and Ceylonese. The breakfast staff seemed a bit slow to respond, a stark contrast to the excellent dinner service we received the night before at the Western restaurant. While there appeared to be a large selection for breakfast, nothing was particularly delicious. It's very close to Galle Fort, and for the same price, staying in a suite here offers a much better experience than an entry-level room at the Amangalla within the fort."

"The room I was originally given was close to the street and was very noisy. Later, I was given a room close to the sea, and the beach was right outside the door🏖. Of course, I only stayed for two nights and left early. The room was large and nice, with sufficient air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The only problem was that the hot water was not hot enough for this generation of hotels. It was probably warm water. I hoped I wouldn't catch a cold after taking a shower. I was quite happy staying there."

"Lovely villa , incredibly friendly staff that went beyond their duty to make sure we were comfortable. The rooms were spacious , comfortable and impressively clean. Breakfast was amazing , we asked if they could give us a SriLankan breakfast and they were able to accommodate us even though it may of not been on the menu at the time . We would really recommend this place and look forward to staying here again."

"We stayed at this hotel for one night. While the property is quite old and the décor and furnishings are noticeably dated, the room was impeccably clean. I was able to walk barefoot in the room without any discomfort, which reflects the hotel’s strong cleanliness standards. The location is one of the hotel’s highlights, situated beautifully along Hikkaduwa Beach with plenty of beach chairs and sunbeds available for guests. Breakfast and dinner were satisfactory, though not particularly outstanding. The service was very good, with warm, friendly, and attentive hospitality, which is consistent with the high standard of service generally found in Sri Lanka. The hotel was also very kind in allowing our driver to stay as well, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. Overall, it was a pleasant beachfront stay with excellent cleanliness and service, despite the aging facilities."

"The room was pretty clean but it needs renovation. There was no aircon inside (only fan). Bedsheets were clean as well. They also provide a towel. As for bath and toilet it was also pretty clean and needs renovation as well. There was hot water but no shampoo/shower gel in bath cabins. There was only one hanger inside and toilet paper as well. There was a kettle in lobby on ground floor. As for cold drinking water they don't provide it. Internet connection was pretty stable. Located in 10 mins walking distance from turtle beach. The staff was accomodating and helpful."

"The staff was attentive and helpful. Although, not everyone understood what we wanted, even with a translator. We liked the pool. The grounds are well-maintained. The English breakfast was hearty and delicious. The restaurant offers both local, spicy dishes and more traditional European fare. The selection isn't particularly extensive, but you won't go hungry. The rooms aren't particularly spacious, but they were cozy. We didn't have any insects. There's a store within walking distance. The ocean is a 20-minute walk away."

"We had a truly wonderful stay at Heritance Ahungalla, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the fresh juices served upon arrival were very refreshing after the journey. The room was spotlessly clean, tidy, spacious, and well equipped with all the luxury amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The atmosphere throughout the resort had a relaxing beachside vibe, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We also used the gym, which was properly equipped with a good range of equipment. The resort has two swimming pools, and we spent most of our time at the main pool, which was absolutely massive and perfect for relaxing. The highlight of the stay was definitely the food experience. The dinner buffet was exceptional with an incredible variety of dishes. There were large selections of salads, appetizers, breads and buns, Sri Lankan specialties, international cuisine, and live cooking stations. The seafood and meat variety was especially impressive — including chicken, beef, pork, cuttlefish, prawns, fish, and many other seafood dishes, with multiple preparations for each. My personal favorite was the pork leg, which was incredibly delicious, tender, and flavorful. The dessert corner was huge, offering plenty of choices and beautifully presented sweets. After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we went for breakfast, and honestly, it was just as impressive as dinner. The breakfast buffet included a massive spread with salad stations, bakery items, fresh fruits, Sri Lankan and international breakfast options, live stations, and an amazing juice bar with around 7–8 varieties of fresh juices. They also had a dedicated cheese section, multiple yogurt options, and even 4–5 types of porridges, which was something unique and very well done. Overall, Heritance Ahungalla offers a fantastic combination of luxury, comfort, delicious food, and relaxing coastal ambience. Everything from the service to the dining and facilities was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable beach getaway in Sri Lanka! 🌴✨"
