"This hotel has been closed to the general public for 5 years whilst it catered for another type of guest. It is having to undergo a total refurb due to being wrecked (receptionists description) This may sound good and they have repainted rooms and replaced beds and mattresses and then filled it with dirty, worn chairs and furniture. Make no mistake there is grime on every other surface. It is in a rundown industrial area. Restaurant isn’t up and running as yet. Feel very unsafe here. I carry wipes and anti bac spray… just as well. Mould in bathroom. Wiped over desk…. The white wipe went grey, very grey with dirt. I’m only here as witness at court so this was booked for me. The housekeeping is not doing job well. Someone needs to get in here and bleach every surface. I’ve been put right above entrance where groups of men are congregating to smoke and talk loudly. Also there is no lift and no air con and neither bedside light works"

"Staff tried to be helpful, but can only do as much as they have resources for. Someone checked the room, after I checked in, to ensure I had an iron. Didn’t find one so left me an iron. I had 2 irons !!! TV didn’t work properly. Tried 2 different remotes, couldn’t control volume or turn off. I ended up unplugging behind TV. Needed to stay an extra night but fully booked for Tuesday night. I don’t understand why. Big spiders in room. Never again"

"Stayed here for a wedding in a nearby town. The hotel check in was really easy. As I was staying in the annex which isn't attached to the property I had to pay a small deposit for my room key. I was able to pay in cash for this but aside from this the hotel is card only. The room was clean and a decent size and the shower was excellent. I was traveling to London the next day for work and it's very easy to get to the train station."

"Joanne is really helpful and friendly. She was what made the review a 5. Self service check in was simple but not a very friednly welcome. The room was tired, smelled a little musty, limited tea and coffee in the room, no extra towel (although Joanna found me one when asked). The shower gel dispenser didnt work. An ok room. Will stay here again."

"The room was comfortable and air conditioned and in this heat was a welcome relief. The breakfast was the best part. I have Coeliac Disease so cannot eat or have any cross contamination with wheat, barley, rye and spelt. The first question asked when going into breakfast was do either of us have any allergies. I told them I was coeliac and they showed us to a table and explained that the cooked breakfast would be cooked separately for me to avoid cross contamination. This was a wow moment and I was truly grateful. The chef cooked my breakfast and bought it out to me whilst my husband was able to serve himself. Every care was taken and the staff were extremely knowledgeable on allergies. 5***** service to Premier inn and the training that their staff have undertaken to keep people with Coeliac Disease safe. Well done"

"Reception looked like the back end of a warehouse. Rubbish and cardboard fully visible, counter full of commands. Upon arriving 20 mins before booking time having driven from another county, we were refused entry to our room 20 mins early unless we paid £15. We have booked to bring our small dog for an additional £20, we didn't bring her but the fee of £20 was non-- refundable."

"Stayed here on a couple of occasions when the city centre Premier Inn price had been too much to pay so opted for here instead. Hotel rooms have recently been renovated and are clean and comfortable. Can be a little noisy from the A12 and train line however nothing overly major. Restaurant on site although not eaten in the evening so cannot comment although breakfast was fine. Continental breakfast is self serve and cooked breakfast is done so to order. Reception staff friendly and there is a McDonalds and BP with M&S food outlet next door to hotel."
