Mercure Chengdu Downtown Hotel（ Kuanzhai Alley）

The room exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is excellent, right by a subway station, which is very convenient for tourists visiting most popular attractions. The hotel staff are very friendly and always quick to resolve any issues.

The hotel's location is excellent. You barely need to walk from Tonghuimen Metro Station Exit 2 (Line 2) to reach the lobby. The breakfast selection is quite extensive, with about five or six hot dishes and as many cold dishes, plus French breakfast options. Yogurt and milk are available, and there are live cooking stations offering rice noodles, noodles, and wontons. It's only about a 5-minute walk to Yogurt Alley. Downstairs, there's a foot massage parlor and underground parking. Highly recommended!

Last year, I stayed here with my child when we visited Sanxingdui. We booked a king room, and the location was excellent. So, on this trip, driving to Jiuzhaigou, I booked here again. This time, I got a twin-bed family room. The room was quite spacious, but the air conditioning was a bit slow to cool down. When I called the front desk, the staff were incredibly helpful. They found two rooms for me to check the A/C, ready to switch my room if needed. Kuanzhai Alley is just a few minutes' walk away, and Tonghuimen subway station is right next to the hotel. There's a Pizza Hut at the entrance. It looks like there used to be a shopping street there, but it's now a bit run down. However, this actually made our stay quieter, and we slept really well. Chunxi Road and People's Park are just 1-2 subway stops away, and when you get off, there are noticeably fewer people, so it's not crowded at all – perfect for a family trip! Both my husband and child loved it here. We'll definitely stay again on our next holiday.

I stumbled upon this hotel and its location is absolutely perfect! It's right outside the subway exit, and only about 500 meters from Kuanzhai Alley, just a few minutes' walk. The room is spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit!

The environment is elegant, the service is attentive and meticulous, and the breakfast is abundant. Although the room faces the street, it's very quiet. Overall, it was a great experience.

The room was quite small and dimly lit, not bright and airy at all. The service was decent though, and its proximity to Metro Line 2 was very convenient for getting around. Chunxi Road was only two stops away. The breakfast was also very good, and it seemed quite popular.

This hotel is close to Kuanzhai Alley. The area around the hotel now looks a bit desolate, hinting at its past glory. After checking in, I noticed the hallway carpet hadn't been cleaned and there was a musty smell. Upon entering the room, the curtains were broken and there were water stains on the floor. The TV's internet signal was terrible; apps wouldn't open, so I could only watch live TV. Overall, my experience at this hotel was mediocre. The bathroom in the king room had outdated fixtures; the showerhead couldn't be adjusted up or down, and water would easily splash outside the shower area. The only good thing about this hotel is its convenient location for subway access.

Smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke / strong cigarette smell (bad for health) 1) The smoke smell was incredibly strong, I had to sleep with my nose covered! It was agonizing! 🚬 2) I could still smell smoke even with the air conditioning on while sleeping! 3) I advise foreigners not to stay here. This place is perfect for people who love to smoke. 4) The hotel name is Mercure, but it has no standards. 5) I will never book a 'Mercure' in China again. 6) The photos are misleading. 7) Very old and poorly maintained. Avoid Mercure hotels if you cannot tolerate cigarette smoke. You have been warned. This hotel is extremely run-down and does not live up to the Mercure brand. Only good points: very close to the subway station / friendly staff Pros: close to train station, staff is friendly

The hotel is super close to Kuanzhai Alley, just a short walk from the entrance. The breakfast spread is excellent, though it can get crowded during peak dining hours. The laundry facilities are convenient, but they tend to be busy in the evenings and less used in the mornings. Parking is also easy.
