Youzhu Hostel (Shuhanludong Subway Station)

What I liked most about my stay was the budget-friendly price and the kindness of the hostel manager. That said, they aren't very used to hosting foreign tourists; despite her sweet attitude, the check-in process was long and complicated, so I basically ended up doing it myself. The location is okay, right on a street filled with food markets. The food nearby is delicious, but there isn't much else to do around there. The nearest metro station is a 12-minute walk away, and the route isn't particularly nice—mostly locksmiths and not much to see—so I'd highly recommend renting a bike. There are no international adapters/outlets, only Chinese ones. The Wi-Fi works well. There is a rooftop to relax on, but it overlooks a back parking lot, so it’s not the most attractive view. However, the well-kept plants on the top are a lovely touch and make the rooftop look nicer. A washing machine is available for a fee (4 RMB for a normal wash), but nobody will help you operate it if you don't speak Chinese. Important amenities that are missing and useful to know: there is no air conditioning and no elevator. Also, keep in mind that the shower is located in the same space as the toilet. soo, okay. Check in took a looong time, had to fill out the form with the lady, and it took a while. She seems to have everything under control in the hostel and keeps the space quite clean, even disinfects the slippers after use. People do smoke in the corridor the rooms open to, sometimes sitting directly in front of your door. She gives you the tour of the whole place, shows you what’s what, all the while saying “please, wear this,” absolutely out of context haha. Rooms were nice, had aircon, no storage though and my biggest gripe - no locks. Cannot lock the room in any way, and anyone can walk in to the hostel from the street. I would have liked to know this when deciding on whether to stay here. Nothing suss happened during our stay but I’m not sure I can recommend staying here for this reason especially. Bathrooms also were a bit meh, a squat toilet-shower combo, one for girls, two for men and one mixed. Never had to wait to shower though. Other than that, location was good, Chengdu actually has a good bus system, 82 stops close to the hostel and can take you quite a few places in the center.

So comfortable feel like home and especially the owner treat like a mother big respect
