Mantu Hostel (Chengdu Chunxi Road Tianfu Square)

Finding this well-designed hostel in a prime location like Chunxi Road feels like striking gold! The rooms are clean, the lobby is spacious, and there's a big terrace. Plus, the prices are incredibly reasonable! They even provide free drinking water, which is a really thoughtful touch. Whether you're in Chengdu for travel, studies, or a convention, staying here is just perfect (I'll definitely be back often! Haha).

The owner provides a washing machine, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste, slippers, laundry detergent, and toiletries. The bathroom was very clean and tidy. Highly recommend.

Facilities: The bed was spacious and very sturdy; there was no noise when turning over. Location: It's super convenient; you just cross a skybridge downstairs to get to Chunxi Road.

I expected a hostel to be noisy, but I was completely surprised! The room was clean and tidy, and it was so much fun chatting with people from all over. What really surprised me was the privacy of the bunks – with the curtain drawn, it was totally undisturbed. There was also enough storage space, so I didn't have to carry too much when I went out.

As a returning guest to this hostel, my recent stay was utterly disappointing and has completely put me off. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to steer clear. Absolutely nothing about my experience was satisfactory. The service, hygiene, and staff attitude were all terrible; it was truly a case of paying to suffer. Firstly, what was most infuriating was the bizarre bed assignment process by the female receptionist with short hair and round glasses. During check-in, she actually asked if I was a deep sleeper at night. It took me a moment to realize she was implying that if I slept soundly, I'd be placed in a room full of snorers! She completely disregarded guest needs, treating us as mere objects to be arbitrarily placed. This arrangement is outrageous. Do hostel guests not deserve a quiet environment for rest? Secondly, my platform order remarks were completely ignored. I placed my order a day and a half in advance, specifically requesting a particular bed location, so it wasn't a last-minute booking. The hostel clearly had ample time to review the order information. Yet, when I arrived in the evening, the receptionist casually informed me that the requested bed was unavailable. There was no prior communication whatsoever—not even a phone call to inform me or discuss alternative solutions. They simply dumped all the problems on the arriving guest, which instantly made me furious and frustrated. It showed a complete lack of respect for guests' time and needs. What was even more off-putting was the receptionist's attitude and way of handling things. Not only did she dismiss guests, but she also openly complained about other guests' issues in front of many people, speaking without any consideration. Hostels are supposed to treat guests like family, but there was absolutely no sense of respect or warmth in her actions. Whether new guests or regulars like me, we were all treated indifferently. All the positive feelings from my previous stays vanished, and I've decided I will never step foot in this place again. Finally, the hygiene was appalling, especially the shower rooms. The floor was filthy, the drain was severely clogged, and there was standing water everywhere. Stepping into it was incredibly unpleasant, clearly indicating a long-term lack of thorough cleaning. The promised toiletries were haphazardly placed, with some nearly empty and not replaced, creating a chaotic mess. They failed to provide even basic accommodation hygiene, completely betraying guests' trust. From beginning to end, the front desk staff's attitude was incredibly arrogant. Their tone was harsh and cold, they were impatient with any questions, and they wore a perpetual frown, as if guests owed them something. Every interaction made me extremely uncomfortable. As a service industry, they lacked even the most basic service awareness—disregarding orders, disrespecting guests, and neglecting hygiene. There's absolutely no reason to stay at such a hostel. Even a loyal customer like me has been completely driven away. I genuinely advise everyone to avoid this place!

Not bad. The dorms are pretty clean, and the bathrooms and showers are decent. The shower water wasn't very hot; it would be great if it could be hotter. It took a long time to even get slightly warm. Overall, it's good value for money and close to the commercial district.

The room was very comfortable and as clean as the hostels in Taiwan. They also provided complimentary bottled water. The location is convenient too. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Chengdu.
