Hi Inn (Chengdu East Railway Station West Plaza)

The check-in process was a little slow, and the towels were single-use paper-towels. The room smelled a little damp as soon as you turn off the AC. But the room had a good size and the bed was comfortable.

It was okay, a little expensive for what you get, the breakfast was meager, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. My room was on the street/rail side so although no street noise you did hear the trains zip by during the day, at night it was quiet.

The hotel is relatively new and looks clean. I believe most hotels do not change the beddings everyday even when there is a new guest checking in. Unfortunately I'm sensitive to smell and I slept through the first night with the previous guest's body odour lingering in the small room. As a self service hotel, one should expect a no frills experience. The amenities listed are indeed present, but the catch is you need to pay for them, be it luggage storage, extra bottled water or laundry. Of course, you can get these services for "free" if you sign up as a member. But you must pay for the membership. Front desk staff are generally helpful but can sometimes provide vastly contrasting information between day and night shifts. Special mention to the young man at the front desk for his excellent service attitude.

Exactly as expected. Extremely clean and quiet. Comfortable and compact. Modern, new and well designed. Amazing restaurant at bottom of building. Would recommend.
