Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu

Ever since I received such warm assistance from the Shangri-La during the pandemic, I've chosen this hotel every time I visit Chengdu. Although the hotel is a bit older, all its facilities are very well-maintained. The gym has a full range of high-quality equipment, and the changing rooms offer both steam and dry saunas, as well as a hot tub, definitely meeting a five-star standard. Towels are always plentiful. Housekeeping is punctual every day, and there's even a turn-down service between 6 and 7 PM. I find the breakfast quite good, with a variety of options including Japanese cuisine. The location is also excellent; for younger, more energetic guests, the Lan Kwai Fong bar street is just 100 meters to the right of the hotel. All things considered, the Shangri-La remains one of the top hotels in Chengdu.

Upon arrival, I was told they couldn't offer a complimentary breakfast for my child, and suggested I upgrade to a family suite to get three meals. I just want to interject here that the Shangri-La hotels in Zhejiang always provide a free breakfast for my child, so I feel the Chengdu Shangri-La is a bit stingy. The room itself was fine and clean, but the food at the Horizon Club was quite mediocre, and the drink selection was very limited. So, booking the Horizon Club didn't feel like good value for money.

The service was very attentive, and the location and transportation were very convenient. The breakfast was especially rich. I will definitely book again next time.

An established five-star hotel with an excellent location. The breakfast spread is incredibly rich, and the service is reliable. When we changed from a triple to a double room mid-stay, the handsome guy at the front desk thoughtfully arranged for us to stay in our original room. Xiao Ping and Xiao Deng both provided very attentive service.

Had a very comfortable stay with excellent facilities. The breakfast was plentiful and definitely worth having. Most importantly, there were lots of pandas nearby, and some great coffee shops too. Thumbs up to Seven for the great service!

The hotel boasts an excellent location, directly across from the beautiful Jinjiang River and the Anshun Bridge-Hejiang Pavilion. It's also very close to Taikoo Li. Stepping into the hotel from the scorching heat outside, we were met with cool comfort and that familiar, pleasant scent. Our river-view room offered an unobstructed view of the stunning scenery outside. The room itself was clean, comfortable, spacious, and bright, and we were even treated to welcome fruits and local snacks – truly wonderful! Although the hotel is a bit older, the service and maintenance are still top-notch. The dinner buffet even includes hot pot, and guests get a discount. The food was delicious, with à la carte options, roast duck, and local specialties like Qiaojiao beef. There was a great selection of drinks, including white and red wines, and refreshing ice cream. The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly – definitely worth a visit! Breakfast was also excellent. The entrance to the Rong Restaurant is adorned with numerous pandas, which is absolutely fantastic!

Traveling to Western Sichuan with my child, I wanted a comfortable hotel in Chengdu to rest well. My child wanted to swim and stay somewhere lively, so I chose this established hotel. The service was good, the river view room was very comfortable, and breakfast was plentiful.

Honestly, choosing a hotel in Chengdu is tough. I read reviews for every hotel, and they all seemed to have issues. I was a bit apprehensive when I picked the Shangri-La, especially concerning hygiene and facilities, and even braced myself for the worst. Traveling with my child and parents, I couldn't help but worry a little. But when we arrived, I realized my worries were completely unnecessary! 1. **Facilities are old:** This is unavoidable, as the hotel opened in 2007. Back then, it was definitely top-notch, but it's not 'old' in a negative sense. 2. **Well-maintained:** It's clear the hotel puts effort into maintaining its facilities. 3. **Excellent service:** A big thank you to the front desk staff – they were never impatient, no matter when we approached them. Our family room had a leaking bathroom, and since it was late, we didn't switch rooms that night. The next day, they upgraded us directly to a large family suite! My child was thrilled, and they even waived the breakfast fee for one person. 4. **Presidential visit:** The President of Ecuador also stayed there during our visit, haha! What a coincidence. Security was extra strict those few days; we even had to go through security checks every time we entered or exited the lobby. 5. **Dining:** We ordered room service from the hotel, including dishes from Shang Palace, and the food was truly delicious! Also, the hotel breakfast is absolutely worth it. My father is very particular about breakfast, and the next day he told me the mini steamed buns were excellent! The dan dan noodles and beef wide noodles were also great.
