Ibis Chennai City Centre

Ibis chennai city center disappointed me in many aspects. 1. Check in: folks at the reception had no clue on how to retrieve my reservation. Multiple people had to be consulted for them to figure out. 2. Customer focus: Had taken two rooms and both fell on the rear of the building where the facade blocked the light coming in. As it is, the room lighting is very dim. I made a request to the reception to allocate at least one room on the other side (facing the road/front of the building) being with senior parents. I was adamantly declined. Despite me noticing several rooms just opposite to ours unoccupied. 3. Upkeep of amenities: The table lamp was unplugged and wouldn't turn on until the maintenance guy showed up. The hair dryer would not work. AC couldn't be adjusted higher than 22 C (strangely !!) Main door of the room was jammed and wouldn't close by itself unless you (me being almost 75 Kg ) to shoulder it into closing. 4. Biggest turn off : Lackluster attitude towards housekeeping. We had plates, bottles lined up on one side of the corridor and the housekeeping trolley parked on the other side. (See the image) Literally I had to navigate between them to reach my room. Made 1st request in person to the reception - no response. Made 2nd request over phone - no response. Made 3rd request in person to the reception with a photo of the situation of the corridor - plates/bottles were cleared & the highlight - the housekeeping trolley remained until I checked out by 8am the next day !!! 5. Management's loot: Overpriced food - Rs. 500 + for any gravy.. Rs. 300 + for sandwich Rs. 180 for a regular sized take away cup of "almost cold" CHAI. All the above wasn't over an extended stay of many days. Just over one night. Whatever name/image the ACCOR groups IBIS brand had/has in other locations is being single handedly damaged by the Chennai City Center folks. Nothing more to say !!

This was my worst stay at an Accor hotel in India—and even worldwide. The music in the restaurant during breakfast and lunch was unbearably loud (you couldn’t even hear the person sitting next to you). I had to insist multiple times before they finally lowered it. My bathroom flooded after my first shower. I reported it to reception, yet the issue was not fixed the next day. My room was not properly cleaned, and shockingly, someone was still cleaning it when I arrived at 2:30 AM. The receptionist even asked me to wait 5 minutes for the room to be “ready”—at 2:30 AM! No one took my complaints seriously. I even emailed the Director of Guest Services and received no response. Absolutely unacceptable.

Hotel is fine. What you can expect from an Ibis hotel including great buffets at the restaurant. But the city of Chennai is building an extension of their metro so the city is not very enjoyable for a few years

Rooms are maintained well and it is located in the heart of the city

Good breakfast and suitable for business travellers.
