Ibis Styles offers a comfortable, affordable stay in a convenient location, although a few areas could be improved.
There was ample basement parking, and I received a warm welcome at reception. Check-in was smooth, with clear information about breakfast times and the non-smoking policy. Renovations were planned for the first block; I stayed in the second.
The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, an extra pillow, a clothes rack, a safe and a workspace. Complimentary water, tea and coffee were provided, along with clean towels. The shower, toilet and washbasin were in separate areas.
Breakfast had a limited Western selection—cereals, toast, eggs, ham, sausages and condiments—but plenty of choice for those who prefer Asian dishes. Unfortunately, the cooking station was disappointing. When I asked whether I could have a poached egg, the answer was a blunt “no”, and I was directed to an omelette sitting nearby. It was cold, and I had no idea when it had been cooked.
A few room features need attention. The safe was positioned so low that I had to kneel on the floor to use it, which could be difficult for older guests. Water also drained poorly after a shower, creating a potential slipping hazard. The room lighting was too dim and could be improved.
A highlight was The Mellowship jazz club beside the hotel driveway, with beautiful music and good drinks.
Overall, it is a wallet-friendly place to stay, with convenient access to Maya Mall, Nimman and the Old City. Better shower drainage, brighter lighting and a more helpful approach at breakfast would make the experience even better.
